K-actor Ji Chang Wook is ditching the goofy of Backstreet Rookie for a more mature modern vibe in his next drama. K-ent is reporting that he’s going to star in the short form Kakao M drama City Couple Way of Love opposite Kim Ji Won. The drama will be in short 25-minute episodes for a total of 12-episodes and streaming … Continue reading →
It’s been exactly a year since the biggest budget K-drama of all time arrived with Arthdal Chronicles, and I can still remember my family members snerking when they randomly walked by as I was watching episode 1 because they wondered why it was so bad even catching snippets of it. It was ambitious and nowhere near the worst drama ever … Continue reading →
It’s too early to say whether this is a financial smart move but the production company behind the big budget fantasy sageuk Arthdal Chronicles has announced officially that season 2 of the series would indeed be made. Filming is scheduled to commence September of 2020 which means the drama won’t even air until 2021. With season dramas there at least … Continue reading →
This is an interesting choice by K-actress Kim Ji Won, who left her longtime agency late last year when her contract expired and has been looking for a new agency. She’s decided to join Salt Entertainment which really is better known as Park Shin Hye‘s agency since the popular actress is the biggest name under the banner. Other actresses in … Continue reading →
Yet another star is making the agency move and coincidentally in the same week it’s the two costars from Arthdal Chronicles. Following the news of Song Joong Ki not renewing his contract with Blossom Entertainment, his Arthdal leading lady Kim Ji Won will also not renew her expiring contract with her own agency King Kong by Starship. A fresh start … Continue reading →
tvN chose to bisect the airing of fantasy sageuk Arthdal Chronicles into technically three parts but aired in two segments. Part 1 and 2 aired together as 12-episodes, then came Hotel Del Luna, and now Part 3 aired as a final 6-episode chunk. But the story itself was Season 1 and boy did it sure feel like it. I don’t … Continue reading →
It’s finale weekend over on tvN as the big budgeted and highly promoted fantasy sageuk Arthdal Chronicles wraps up its ambitious tale with the final two episodes. The penultimate episode brought in 6.412% ratings, so part 3 of this drama in the end could not give it a much needed ratings boost beyond the 6% range it averaged during its … Continue reading →
It’s a short 3 week airing for the final third season of fantasy sageuk Arthdal Chronicles, with only 6-episodes left to wrap up the epic tale. Episode 13 aired this Saturday and got 6.115% ratings, a steep drop from its predecessor Hotel Del Luna which averaged 8.867% and its final episode broke 12%. I’m still not feeling the epic-ness of … Continue reading →
tvN started off summer of 2019 with the highly anticipated fantasy sageuk Arthdal Chronicles but it was the next drama to come the fantasy drama Hotel Del Luna that garnered higher ratings an buzz. Summer of 2019 is ending and will bring with it the return of tvN drama Arthdal Chronicles, which kicked of the summer when it first premiered at the beginning of June. The first two seasons didn’t reach the ratings height expected of such a big name and big budget production but narratively the drama did keep getting better as it … Continue reading →
I think the preliminary verdict is that tvN drama Arthdal Chronicles is a relative disappointment, vis-a-vis the largest budget in K-drama history and of 54 billion won even greater by far from the most recent biggest budget K-drama Mr. Sunshine with 40 billion won. Mr. Sunshine at least broke cable ratings records but Arthdal has been averaging 6% ratings through … Continue reading →
Watching the first two seasons (12 episodes) of tvN fantasy saguek Arthdal Chronicles is like sticking with a whole lotta meh hoping for something drastic to happen to make it suddenly better. I stuck with it thinking perhaps the dull and lame stuff was just stage setting and the good stuff was imminent and I didn’t want to miss out … Continue reading →
tvN hasn’t premiered Arthdal Chronicles yet but managed to hold both the press release media part and the drama wrap party on the same week. It’s all due to extensive pre-filming which made this drama hit the fully pre-produced mark mere days before the first episode airs on June 1st. In attendance were leads Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ji Won, … Continue reading →
