You win some, you lose some, and that saying applies much too aptly to dramas. A drama starring a favorite actor is no guarantee it’ll be good, and I’m way too busy in life to waste time with stuff that just doesn’t resonate with me. With that said, having to drop Arang and the Magistrate is truly one of my … Continue reading →
Perfection, thy name is Arang and the Magistrate – also known as “When Lee Jun Ki met Shin Mina and fireworks exploded.” If the long trailer for Faith was like a 7/10 in terms of generating excitement (for the story, not necessarily the splotchy acting I saw), then the long ten-minute trailer for Arang is like a 11/10 in knocking … Continue reading →
I’m weeping tears of happiness here for the sheer awesome that will be Arang and the Magistrate. Isn’t the official poster fantastic? Kwang Oh Jung and Hwang Bora makes such awesome expressions of shock and fear that they manage to steal my gaze from the lovely Shin Mina and the glorious Lee Jun Ki. To be sure, I love how … Continue reading →
The upcoming drama tidal wave makes me feel like I’m playing a carnival game that is rigged – I’m going to win a prize no matter what, i.e. there is bound to be a drama that I end up liking. I feel rather like that derpy dog in Up, the one constantly chasing after bones here and there. One minute … Continue reading →
Jaw. Drop. The third teaser for Arang and the Magistrate is out and before I could deal with my excitement over the upcoming fantasy sageuk drama, I felt like I had my expectations upended. He can touch her. I repeat – Eun Oh the magistrate not only can see Arang, he can touch her. WHAT THE WHAT? Isn’t she a … Continue reading →
Arang and the Magistrate got a two week premiere push back thanks to the London Olympics, but the drama started filming already back in June, hence we’re lucky enough to take a peek at the first teaser already. Starring Lee Jun Ki as a ghost-seeing Joseon magistrate and Shin Mina as the titular ghost, the drama is like a smorgasbord … Continue reading →
If folks needed yet another reason to watch the upcoming fantasy sageuk Arang and the Magistrate, this might be another lure. KBS used the Red One camera on Chuno and The Princess’s Man, both of which were dramas that was an undeniable visual feast. Set the directing aside, the cinematography was breathtaking. MBC is looking to take Arang to even … Continue reading →
My eyes, my eyes, I’m blinding by too much gorgeousness! The first official character stills are out of the leads for Arang and the Magistrate. Lee Jun Ki and Shin Mina are absolutely positively exploding off the screen in intensity. I feel their characters in these shots, as opposed to being static and two-dimensional. Jun Ki’s piercing gaze gives me … Continue reading →
OMG Flails, Flails, Flails Uncontrollably! The cast of upcoming supernatural fantasy sageuk Arang and the Magistrate released pictures of its script reading session, and I needed a spatula to scrape me off the floor. Jun Ki. JUN KI. JunKiJunKiJunKiJunKiJunKiJunKiJunKiJunKiJunKi…. What? Oh yes, I’m supposed to write something coherent. I think this drama will be the shizniz, because the cast is fantabulous. … Continue reading →
A couple of weeks ago I had dinner with some girlfriends (wub you, LizzyD and Xiaoxin!) and discussed my Jun Ki’s first post-army project. We went through the available leading ladies and settled on Moon Geun Young or Yoon Eun Hye as great possibilities and prayed for that to happen. Fast forward a few weeks, and not only am I … Continue reading →
It’s nice to be well established movie stars in Korea, because when they pair up and have a movie premiere, all your pretty and talented colleagues show up to support you. Love Fiction with Gong Hyo Jin and Ha Jung Woo held its celebrity-filled movie premiere this past weekend and it was a veritable who’s who of attendees. The movie is … Continue reading →
I don’t have enough accolades for the latest pictorials of Shin Mina for Rag & Bone. While I like R&B clothes, I think it’s overrated and passable at best. But after seeing Mina so lovely and comfy in their threads, it’s succeeded in making me covet what would otherwise be pretty ordinary clothing. I like the color photos more, which … Continue reading →
When is Shin Mina coming back with an acting project next? She’s in every other CF out there, or so it seems like, but I’m eager to see what she does next on either the big or small screen. As an actress she’s an acquired taste for me – I much prefer her performances low key such as her personification of goodness and … Continue reading →
