Moving Takes Home Drama Daesang, The Worst of Evil Wins Best Director, Namgoong Min Gets Long Awaited Best Actor, and Honey Lee Upsets for Best Actress in Fun Night at the 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards

The 2024 Baeksang Arts Awards took place this Tuesday May 7th in Seoul and it was also the 60th year of the event so a milestone for sure. There is a lot to digest so let’s get to it! Moving took home the drama side Daesang and I knew that would happen when Best Drama went to My Dearest so congrats to both! Moving is my favorite drama of 2023 and the complete package in acting, writing, and directing. A surprise in Best Director for The Worst of Evil or perhaps it was an attempt to distribute more love. Namgoong Min deservingly got Best Actor for My Dearest as recompense for losing out three times prior and really for the travesty the year that was Hot Stove League. A surprise in Best Actress going to Honey Lee for Knight Flower but perhaps that was expected considering all the praise she got for making that drama a hit.

A duo from Mask Girl swept with Best Supporting Awards in Ahn Jae Hong and Yeom Hye Ran, adorable tween Jeon Yu Na won Best New Actress for The Kidnapping Day, and sweet Lee Jung Ha got Best New Actor for Moving. Kim Soo Hyun won the Popularity Award and got a lot of screentime in the front row lol. In the movie side, a few big wins was Kim Go Eun for Best Actress in Exhuma and Lee Do Hyun for Best New Actor as well, and the Daesang going to the director of Exhuma with 12:12 The Day winning Best Picture and Best Actor for Hwang Jung Min. In terms of fashion, it was as boring as prior years and a few standouts were An Yu Jin in her sleek white dress and Lee Jong Won doing his best Prince impression. My fave part was seeing all three of my baby boys grown up at the same awards in Kim Soo Hyun, Park Bo Gum, and Lee Do Hyun, all three were small supporting roles that caught my eye when each debuted and lo and behold all three hit or exceeded their potential.
