All righty here, I feel like I am in some sort of twilight zone of K-dramas, with SBS the mad puppeteer pulling the strings. News just dropped that Jo Yoon Hee has been cast as the second female lead of the upcoming Mon-Tues drama Lie to Me (which was its original name before it got switched to Sweet Scandal, and apparently is now switched back to the original name – and OMG I got tired just typing that out).
Lie to Me will follow Midas to premiere on May 9, 2011, and of all the insanity in K-drama production this is a first I’ve seen a drama with one month before its premiere not yet confirmed its two lead actors. Oh, everyone knows its Yoon Eun Hye and Kang Ji Hwan (even the news reports of Jo Yoon Hee’s casting confirms it once again), but the production has thus far not released one official confirmation. What gives?
Jo Yoon Hee will play Oh Yoon Joo (mwahahahaha, oh I’m getting insane My Princess flashbacks here with the same name), a display designer who is loved by two men, her former fiancee Hyun Ki Joon (a hotel CEO), and a friend of Ki Joon’s younger brother. Yoon Joo is beautiful and kind, a woman with a good background and has no airs. The drama will surround a scandal created by the heroine Gong Ah Jung, a single woman who pretends to be married in order to enjoy the benefits of her pretend status.
The news report states that it has been revealed that marketing company employee Gong Ah Jung will be played by Yoon Eun Hye, and Kang Ji Hwan is cast to play Hyun Ki Joon, who will of course in typical drama shenanigans and coincidence be mistaken as Gong Ah Jung’s make-believe husband. PD Kim Soo Ryong of Green Rose and PD Kwon Hyuk Chan of Secret Garden will co-direct, and the script will be written by Kim Ye Ri of Heading To The Ground.
