First Character Stills of Kim Soo Hyun for tvN Healing Drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay

K-actor Kim Soo Hyun has two modes for me – sincere young man and ACTIVATE mode when he acts. When he activates he just becomes another person, whatever character it’s that’s character and not Kim Soo Hyun. That’s why I remember the names – Song Sam Dong, Baek Seung Chan, Do Min Joon, he takes a well-written role and makes it shine by his performance. The first character stills are out for his upcoming tvN drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay and the slightly dorky hair style notwithstanding I already see the outlines of the personality of this role. Hardworking, open and serious, there’s a grit to him likely coming from being the breadwinner for the family and taking care of his older brother with a mental handicap. I can’t believe it’s been 5 (!) years since his last drama Producers but he can afford to take his time and his last two cameos in Hotel Del Luna and Crash Landing on You have been perfectly rendered and timed releases to stir anticipation for a full return.

First Character Stills of Kim Soo Hyun for tvN Healing Drama It’s Okay to Not be Okay — 19 Comments

  1. I am really looking forward to this drama. Kim Soo-hyun acting never disappoints. I can’t wait to see him as Moon Kang-tae.

  2. He can do dorky and sophisticated with ease. I don’t know why, but I’d hoped that his newest role would be sophisticated tycoon somewhere along the lines of his cameo in Hotel del Luna. Either way, I’m excited to see what he’ll bring to his latest role, he always brings his A game and doesn’t disappoint. I can’t wait for June.

  3. I look forward to his comeback, but a bit doubtful about the lead actress, Seo Ye Ji. Her acting in Lawless Lawyer was not that good, in my opinion. I failed to relate with the character, because I felt that she didn’t morphed into the character, she was just an actress acting to be the character throughout. But, like what I always do with other dramas, I will watch the first 2 hours then decide whether to continue or not.

      • Lawless Lawyer was acting power house. Even the supporting actors were brilliant. SYJ is a good actress but I think she’s still finding her way to discover her best potential. I really like Moorim School but even it that drama, I felt she was overshadowed by the other female lead. Nevertheless, she still a good actress.

  4. He’s honestly one of the most talented actors of that age group. It’s really interesting – I’m not a huge fan but you’re right; I do remember most of his character names! Obviously Do Min Joon is mostly everyone’s dream guy, but I even remember his movie names like Won Ryu Hwan (or Dong Gu) and Zampano.

I think he’s just very distinct with his acting. I don’t believe anyone can accuse him of being the same character all the time. He picks a variety and challenges himself. So yea, I guess I’m a bit of a fan. Looking forward to this!

  5. Honestly I was not impressed by him in MLFTS. Well that whole drama was a bit meh! to me. But it is not justifiable to blame him as the most problematic thing for me was the script of that drama.

However,I was totally awed by him in “The Producers”(He won a KBS Daesang for it) .Thus got to know why people praise his acting so much. This guy has got some real talent along with so much fame.
After his military discharge I get a different aura from him nowadays, like kind of more mature and manly especially in these stills.
Hope his project does well and am definitely going to check this out.

  6. I like him in Dream High and his Sam Dong character. Not so much in MLFTS. I like that he is picking different roles to grow his acting range. I like actors like him. Not afraid to try different genres, to look ordinary or dirty, not just playing pretty boy roles most of the time. When I watch his dramas I want to see the character not Kim Soo Hyun the actor. Actually he reminds me a bit of SIG’s acting choices. After military, time to morph into more mature, darker, manly roles to diversify his career and extend marketability beyond fan-girl base and popularity. This guy can go far if he continues with the right trajectory.

  7. I’ve watched Dream High, Moon Embracing the Sun, Producers and MYFTS. Love his cameos in HDL and CLOY. I don’t know what to expect from this new drama. Here’s hoping it would not be too depressing to watch.

  8. I cant wait for june. hope this project is good. Hopefuly, domestic viewership rating will be high.

I hope to see him work again with my favorite Nam Ji hyun. Praying for this to happpen.

  12. Kim Soo Hyun breathes life into any character he portrays. You are right, we can remember and love each and every character in all of his dramas/movies because he ceases being KIM SOO HYUN, he becomes that character. A testament of a great talented actor he is??❤️

  13. Koreans r so talented and handsome. I started watching k movies last year and I’ve been hooked ever since. Great acting, amazing characters. I can’t get enough of these actors. Why aren’t they recognized in America.
