I’m perplexed by perennial prime time ratings loser KBS, not because it keeps failing to win audiences over, but by how it chooses to schedule the types of dramas that have proven to have a limited appeal. I can count on one hand how many teen and school-based dramas have succeeded in recent years, and will need hands and feet to count the ones that have failed, with many airing on KBS.
Currently airing Mon-Tues drama Oh My Venus bores me to death, not because it’s bad but because the characterizations and chemistry is flaccid, and the ratings aren’t anything to write home about despite having Shin Mina and So Ji Sub as leads. It’s even more concerning with Moorim School takes over that time slot on January 11th, with a bunch of newbies and only a few recognizable names and faces in leads Lee Hyun Woo and Seo Ye Ji. I actually chuckled at the teaser preview because of how earnest and kitschy it looks, making it worth checking out for the unintentional laughs. Continue reading
