I firmly still believe that Jang Geun Seok still has what it takes, acting ability and hardworking desire, to advance his career as a serious young actor. It’s true that he’s not don’t anything substance in that pursuit for the last five years, whatever acting projects he’s done have been light and fluffy and played on his real life flower boy persona rather than against type, but I’m not ready to count him out as a lost cause just yet.
Upcoming SBS sageuk Jackpot (Daebak) looks like the first real serious acting role he’s doing in years and I’m really hoping the drama is good and he delivers a memorable performance. It’s described as the Joseon version of gambling revenge drama All In and Jang Geun Seok plays a gambler who bets his life against Yeo Jin Gu playing King Yeongjo. He certainly looks convincing in the new stills as a man on a mission nursing deep pain and resentment that spurs him on this seemingly foolhardy path.
Koala, JGS – if given decent role, does a very good job (i.e. Love/rain). But if tbe storyline calls him only to look good and pretty without any substance, he will fail. I hope that is not the case in Jackpot.
Have seen enough of JGS to not be surprised if he does well in this one. The poor drama selection has been mainly the reasons for him to be recognized as a capable actor. All the best to him
Hope for the best cause I really love JKS in Beethoven Virus. The teaser and poster look good so far.
The piercing stare is back! It means he is already very much into the character. Hope the drama is good! But acting JKS is good enough for me ?
I love him in Beethoven virus, love his hairstyle in there he he …
My two most favorite child actors in Korea! So great! Looking forward to it’s success.
He looks great here. This seems to be a much better/meatier role than his last ones. And of course happy to see yeo jin goo in a potentially better drama than his last choice. Looking forward to this one, especially with jun gwang ryul and choi min soo!
Jang Geun Suk is fabulous in this role! He should be so proud..
I hope he ignores any future bad social media comments, and only concentrates on the millions who love him. Thanks again JKS..
