I’ve adored idol-actor Yook Sung Jae since Who Are You: School 2015, and even though he doesn’t have any scenes (so far) with guest starring Kim So Hyun in currently airing tvN drama Goblin it’s still a perfect canvas for his talents. He’s young and brash, a breath of energy when the drama can sometimes slow down to a crawl for character development. So far he’s a plot device with fantastic charm, but according to screenwriter Kim Eun Sook all the main supporting characters have deeper backstories and connections to the main leads beyond their current iterations. This includes the grandma/woman in red, grandpa, Yook Sung Jae’s Duk Hwa, and the secretary. I love all four characters but it’s Duk Hwa I’m most curious about – who is he really, and could he be the incarnation of the God that is said to be pulling all the strings? What do you think?
Yook Sung Jae turned down Jinyoung‘s second lead role in the hit Moonlight Drawn By Clouds and even though here he’s got even less screen time in a supporting role it’s a very memorable character and performance sure to continue his growth streak as an actor. Love love Duk Hwa!
He is really an idol/actor that I think will have a bright future in acting, he is good.
As for his character just watched episode 12 and I will say wow, I have kind of figure out there was something more than meet the eyes with DH.
His character is really mysterious since he said he has his ways to find Eun Tak and the scene shows us the white butterfly to the ski station. And his scenes with the woman in red don’t seem to be a coincidence after all.
Its been answered in the latest episode.
Thanks to him, I had such a bad case of SLS during Who Are You:School 2015. I’d love to see him play a role similar to Lee Hong-ki’s in Bride of the Century, all suave and smouldering. *fans self*
Yook Sung Jae is fantastic!! He should definitely do more acting!! He needs to move companies too!! It was actually his company that rejected the role for Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, YSJ wanted to accept it!!
Wow really?
I’m a big fan of BTOB that of course I supported him in all dramas. Happy and proud that he’s actually a very good actor. He can do comedy, drama and make your heart flutter.
His role in Goblin is also great! I liked the subtle hints they showed on each episode til last night. Amazing!
He declined MDBC and Shopping King which turned out to be great ones but all is good.
