Looks like the leads are getting warmed up for filming on the upcoming K-drama Born Again, and perhaps twice around the block is needed as everyone is playing two characters. Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, and Lee Soo Hyuk are the love triangle and conflicted trio who cross paths in the 1980s and are reincarnated into present day 2020 still unable to shake free from their entwined fates. There’s a serial killer and plenty of past live angst to go around, not to mention two model-esque male leads and Jin Se Yeon exchanging her sageuk forte for her less than stellar track record in modern dramas. The story does sound interesting so count me in.
Haven’t seen Lee Soo Hyuk since High School King of Savvy. He has a very distinctive look which carries cold and aloof vibes in me. Good to see him again in this drama and also reuniting with Seo In Guk in Pipeline movie due out this year.
LSH’s looks we’re epic in High School King. I rewatch it at least once a year too, one of my favorites.
Yes, I agree with you Deb. That is the only noona-donsaeng drama that I love. I dunno but that wacky drama seems to work somehow. In the hands of other actors, it would have been a huge flop. Somehow Lee Hana’s goofball noona doesn’t put me off. Her character remains the same from beginning till end without being made up to look more beautiful or have that ugly ducking transformed to Cinderalla look. The drama defies all logic but still works. I hated LSH so much at first but later warmed up a bit. I also love SIG’s talent in playing 2 so different brothers. Nostalgic.
The synopsis of reincarnation of 3 individuals, 6 different identities and two love triangles sounds messy. I will probably wait for review first even though I like JKY. The female lead is weak in modern dramas. Don’t have high hope for this one. It will be nice to have a stronger second female lead or a Dog to spice up the appeal.
The plot line is similar to EY in which characters in Secret comic book had past lives in Trumpet Creeper comic book. If written well, it would not have been a problem I suppose. It all depends on the execution and acting of the actors to pull it off.
