C-drama Till the End of the Moon with Luo Yun Xi and Bai Lu Sets New Xianxia Records Left and Right within Days of Premiere — 36 Comments

    • The customs are extremely beautiful and fit the characters to perfection. Not to mention topped with their awesome performances, this is one drama I will surely rewatch after its done!

    • Have to agree. As an actor they are very solid acting, productiin is grewt but the plot is somehow is left me uninterested. Not sure how but it does. Maybe how the character is written?. But ep 1 is epic.

  1. My only comment is I think the Male Lead Luo Yun Xi looks too skinny. Know his character suffered a lot of abuse but he looks like skin and bone only. Think he is physically malnourish and needs to beef up in real life.

  2. I thought Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu had better chemistry in their previous modern drama, but nevertheless still enjoying this show.

  3. this drama is the child of marketing and lots of it. I feel that people really have little interest in it. 90% of people who are watching couldn’t tell you what’s it about. I am not feeling it, but I am happy for everybody who is.

    • It’s about love and revenge and for once, a character who starts out evil and WANTS to remain evil to the end and not the usual misunderstood white moonlight.

And crazy women, crazy women all over the place.

      That’s what it’s about.

Also agreeing with @ockoala, I can see money being burned in front of me every time they’re changing costumes (absolutely loving the costumes in this drama, I’ve never seen anything like it!) and using CGI (those were some of the greatest xianxia gods&demons wars in xianxia IMHO).

And it’s not even halfway through. It really does have the potential to become the biggest hit (of this year at least). Really glad for LYX and BL if it happens – they have great chemistry and the acting chops to pull it through, as long as the script remains steady.

*inserting small wish for a HEA*

      • It will become the biggest hit of the year only if nothing else decent airs. And plenty of good stuff is yet to.

Don’t make me laugh about this being any other kind a “biggest hit”. It is not fit to be mentioned in the same sentence as the biggest hits of cent and yes, we can measure this objectively.

  4. I went on a trip for the past few days and is still stuck at ep 8. Will try to catch up on the new episodes tonight. So far I do agree that there is too much marketing for a drama of this quality though.

  5. Lol what records? It hasn’t broken a single relevant thing, outside of the platform itself which is generated by incredible marketing the PR department is pushing.

In fact it is stuck on 2.5 on Datawin for three days now.
Got to hand it to Youku PR department, they are doing an amazing job of keeping it even that high because the interest isn’t there. I just personally don’t understand spending such huge amounts of money but got to go with what you have I guess.

  6. My guess is that they are spending more on marketing than they are on the entire production and blowing it all in the first week of broadcasting so I’m not surprised they are breaking records.

  7. Not a perfect drama but a great one nonetheless, I enjoy it very much. It’s breathes of fresh airs from the same old classic xianxia that have been recycled over and over again like Immortal Samsara.

CP’s acting chop is off the chart and chemistry is insane. My only complain is Leo’s makeup is over the top but I get totally distracted from it after a while. Love their costumes.

  8. There’s only a handful of xianxia dramas I can get behind in C-ent, but this one’s a true gem and honestly the accolades reflect the quality. There’s alot of thought not just in the costumes (notice too how the costumes’ details actually complement their partners), no expenses spared CGI but also in the storyboarding; there’s alot of clever foreshadowing + symbols that ties so many conenctions + plot together. As much as Bai Lu is owning her character’s wit and charm (no damsel in distress here as our female lead) but I really think it’s Luo Yun Xi that’s tying the whole drama together. There’s so much range that he’s showing here, I can’t seem to picture another actor that fits the role as well as he does here. It’s not just his microexpressions as the bullied, oppressed or as the evil tyrant… he does so well in the love-up scenes & the overt action sequences. I know there’s another arc to come, and more character development for both but it is shaping up to be a stellar, resoundingly high quality and addictive watch. If you’re in a xianxia that challenges + engages the viewer’s mind for once, won’t hesitate to recommend it.

      • Let’s not bring Jesus to this discussion.

If you don’t like it, that’s OK. Just unnecessary l to be condescending on those who do enjoy it.

      • @Missy

She, and anyone else, can enjoy it all they like. I never said a word about that.

I was laughing out loud to the absolutely hilarious use of the word accolades.

        Jesus wept.

      • LOL or Whoever you are…

Jesus wept when he saw people going about like sheep without a shepherd.

Jesus rocks! He died on the cross to take your sin away! Trust in Him to be saved!

    • I love that he may look gaunt, but he’s still a pretty well known star… shows that he is not just relying on his a face alone.

I think LYX’s talents more than compensates for his scrawny looks. He has such a screen presence!

      • The C novels I’ve read so far always described the heroes as ethereally handsome while the MLs in the adaptations are often far from being attractive. LOL. I can’t take LYX seriously given his scrawny looks even his acting is fine. This isn’t about body shaming at all. Drama is an art and is therefore subject to opinions/critiques from viewers in all aspects, actors’ appearance and physique included. We the audience are what a drama is produced for. That being said, my opinion about LYX’s appearance doesn’t override other qualities of this drama though.

    • Leo is always on the thin side but during the filming of his drama before TTEOTM he got accidentally punched on the mouth by another actor and required more than 50 stitches inside and outside his mouth. For weeks he only relied on liquid foods. TTEOTM’s booting was postponed because of this. So he was super haggard and gaunt especially during the earlier filming of TTEOTM.

  9. Idk at this point I am watching for the beautiful costumes and CG. The storyline is not really interesting, and I am bored at times. Maybe I will finally be invested when they return to their heavenly identites.

  10. This blog is so full of negative nellies! The drama is doing well on viewing charts which means a lot of people LOVE it! And are interested in the plot and have questions about the novel which C-drama is based on, which is a lot more interest than they show in a lot of other C-dramas. It’s also garnering a lot of praises for the CGI and the costumes, which are a little different from the normal pastel, flying hair tropes which characterizes C-dramas nowadays.

    • As a casual reader, it’s too easy to spot fans of other dramas or actors from the other dramas got butthurt over this since Koala mentioned those other dramas lol.

  11. I am not watching this, but chill with the bodyshaming you guys, so what if the ML is thin, so many people are and that’s OK.

  12. You can dislike the drama without bodyshaming the actor. That’s low, he is a human being and he looks fine to me and the over 300k followers he got since the show started airing.

  13. I love it when heizi credit this drama success to marketing.
Let me give everyone a taste of this marketing result.

The playback volume doubled Youku’s previous record holder.
Speaking about stagnation, it is now stuck on its peak which is above the peak of everything else that airs last year.

For the cost of marketing which just a small part of its budget, that doubles the number of average xianxia. Absolutely worth the investment. :p

    • Why lie? So dumb.

Three dramas broke 3 on Detavin last year. This drama is stuck on 2.5. Smh, you fans are ridiculous.

Oh and nobody, absolutely nobody believes data from Youku itself (or any other platform for that matter)

      • I just have to add my two cents here. You peeps are criticizing this drama like you know everything, well I would love to see your work-yes you write the novel and do all the work that has been here to make drama … since you know it alls are the shits, I want to see what you can do!! And quit saying crap about the main lead guy. He has done a fabulous job right down to being thin which by the way goes perfect with how the character should look like. Just stop your nonsense critics…

      • @Mari

You should probably go out and touch some grass. If a factual post gets you to sound like a rabid 10yo trying to discuss, it is time to reevaluate.

      • Datawin and yunhe are two different things. They use different metrics.

Only 2 drama broke 3 on datawin last year and it’s not a summer drama by young actors. 3 is the peak. The average index of the to drama is 2.6.

        The top drama’s peak: 3.077

The 3 summer young adult costume drama’s peak:
        2.604
        2.598
        2.406

        The top drama’s avg: 2.674

The 3 summer young adult costume drama’s peak:
        2.169
        2.131
        2.021
