My Journey to You Second Male Lead Cheng Lei Upgrades as Potential Male Lead Opposite Bai Lu in Detective Mystery Period C-drama
There is a new period C-drama casting called Chao Xue Lu (朝雪录) that has Bai Lu and newly breakout Cheng Lei as the leads. It’s a mystery detective thriller which kinda sounds like Cheng Lei’s last drama My Journey to You which was basically a game of Clue crossed with wuxia gothic-core sprinkled with a side of The Bachelor/The Bachelorette. The drama is set in the Ming dynasty with the female lead being basically a medical examiner and she works with the crown prince to solve crimes and exonerate her father. I don’t have a problem with this pairing and find Cheng Lei earned his upgrade but I hope his character here does more than glower and brood.
But he is so good at glowering and brooding, not to mention his expressive eyes
I am soo down for this potential pairing! Bai Lu had been rumoured for this project for a very long time now, I hope this pairing works out.
I like this actor.
This guy is a really good actor. His microexpression is on point and his eyes tells lots of stories. He got great stage presence and abundant charisma too. Hope he will get the breakthrough he deserved.

Why didnt they do a drama with him and his cp in MJTY, they had amazing chemistry except not fully played out. Would be nice to see them as main cp this time.
Agreed! I think it’s only a matter of time before they’re paired up as main CP of their own drama (can’t wait!). However, the project they’ll reunite in will most likely be a lower budget drama.
I like actors with eyes that “emote” and I feel like Cheng Lei’s eyes really tell what he’s feeling. I don’t know if I made any sense lol
I watched his mini drama although did not get to finish. This guy could draw attention. I dropped MJTY after a few eps bcos the plot and the cinematography as well aren’t up my alley. I also disliked 2nd FL’s creepy character.
But I’ll give a shot to this drama
