Li Hong Yi Loses Fans After He Tries to Calm Their Furor Over Him Getting Second Billing to Wang Chu Ran in Director Guo Jing Ming’s Next C-drama

This billing order shit is getting out of had, but then again it flares up and peters out in waves so I hope it dies down again ASAP. A new drama got cast this week and it’s relatively high profile, it’s the next drama from director and screenwriter Guo Jing Ming (Edward Guo) whose most recent drama was the stylish My Journey to You. It’s adapted from the novel Song Dynasty Female Assassin and has the new drama title (after a few changes) Feng Yin Ran Mei Xiang (烽影燃梅香 or Fire Smoke Ignites Plum Incense). It stars Wang Chu Ran and Li Hong Yi and apparently in that billing order which freaked out Li Hong Yi’s fandom who started to bitch and moan left and right how unfair and unacceptable that he’s playing second fiddle to an actress of Wang Chu Ran’s level (i.e. not high level). His fandom was fine when the female lead was reportedly Zhang Jing Yi but not fine now it’s confirmed Wang Chu Ran. He tried to calm his own fandom down by posting on his SNS that as an actor the most lucky thing is getting a good script, playing a good character, and being part of a good production team. He feels very lucky and will do his best to portray every character he plays. That caused his OWN FANS to leave him fandom and stop stanning him. Goodness gracious what’s next C-fans, how low can you go.

Li Hong Yi Loses Fans After He Tries to Calm Their Furor Over Him Getting Second Billing to Wang Chu Ran in Director Guo Jing Ming’s Next C-drama — 28 Comments

  1. He has no charisma and acting skills in The Blood of Youth. No wonder the production team rather give Wang Churan first billing than him.

  2. Zhang Jingyi and Wang Chu Ran debuted around the same time, if I recall correctly, Wang Chu Ran actually (2017) debuted a little earlier than Zhang Jingyi (2020) and so is the more senior actress. So I don’t see how playing second fiddle to her is in any way inferior to Zhang Jingyi. It’s just that Wang Chuan currently has a lot of haters due to the controversy with Fireworks in My Heart and so has a lot more haters.

Li Hongyi should just play the silent card and focus on doing well in this project. Second lead or not, Edward Guo has been known to portray stylishly, well-shot, artistic projects that magnify the capabilities of the actors involved and I agree with Li Hongyi, he’s lucky to be in a project filmed by that director. He should savor the opportunity and his fans can go to h*ll. He’s a good actor, he will always have new fans.

  3. Li Hongyi has the right to make his own choice, I support him to stay firm on his decision. But similarly, his fans also have their choice to leave the fandom so I won’t them for leaving either.

  4. Li Hongyi has the right to make his own choice, I support him to stay firm on his decision. But similarly, his fans also have their choice to leave the fandom so I won’t chastise them for leaving either.

    • The old can leave and new will come… I am not keen on both artiste but I am interested in this drama…after Gou Jing Ming’s silent short blacklist… he is coming back. I am keen to watch this production. He had work with Wang Chu Ran previously, he must have found her suitable for this project. He is a very visual person thru I may not share his aesthetics…

      • I’m not sure, GJM’s dramas have never really strike my interest. I think his only work which I’ve completed watching is his movie The Yin-Yang Master: Dream of Eternity. Of course, nothing is certain. If this drama’s trailer interests me then I may end up watching it.

  5. If they cannot be happy as long as he’s happy with role/script/etc. they weren’t real fans anyway. These cranks sound more like overly ambitious tennis-mums. He will be better off without them.

  6. Like I always say
Fans of anyone are not mentally healthy People at all
Fanwars everywhere for stupid reasons and made by stupid people

  7. Didn’t think much of him before but him stepping up to calm the fans in this insane billing war is commendable. Would have been so easy to stay silent. Will take more notice of him going forward.

  8. Fights for billing won’t stop as long as the weird practice of billing order continues in C-ent. This practice only does more harm to the industry than good. Koala doesn’t have to worry about lack of drama outside drama to woo readers. LOL

  9. I can never get the visuals of WCR. Besides, her acting is really bad. LHY just looks like another version of Cheng Yi. I mixed them up all the time. LOL. If the blog wasn’t about billing nonsense again, I wouldn’t even bother to click on and make a comment. These two actors’ dramas aren’t worth my attention.

      • XZF, let me give you the trick, if the actor has square shape face obvious jawline, very polished head dress or wigs, that’s Cheng Yi. If the actor is 1 foot taller in height difference to the Female lead, then that’s Li Hong Yi. LHY is around 6’2 feet very tall actor. Dont know about Cheng Yi maybe Cheng Yi is 5’7 feet in height.

    • Somebody, dont know what is your visual standard but that actress Wang Chu Ran is just the girlfriend of Yang Yang. If you dont find her that beautiful, maybe Yang Yang will be your Top opposition. lol

  10. You know what? I have never seen this guy before and he looks like a Cheng Yi look-alike (so meh), but I think he is commendable for speaking up and I will support him in this work. He seems to be a good, down-to-earth sort of guy, and I respect that.

    • @Nena, @Somebody, definitely similarities… but Cheng Yi is a better actor, not a great actor but better then Hongyi… Looks whiles, I think Hongyi’s features may be sharper then Chengyi…He is also much taller of the two, Thus looks better overall, one might say…

      • How can Cheng Yi not be a better actor when he is 8 years older, Senior to Li Hong Yi. If better actor for you is Best in spitting out or throwing up Blood common to ancient Cdramas. lmao. But Li Hong Yi is not that bad of an actor either. He is Best in micro-expressions & gazes, I should know, from a long time drama watcher, Ive seen all his dramas from famous to sleeper hits, there’s quite a lot, he’s even better from many Korean idol actors Ive seen, so he’s a gem for Asian actors.

      • @Anstroness, Troll tourist. Lol.. Love your idol, no one stops you. You just reflect how ugly your idol’s fandom is. Not doing him any justice with your attitude.

    • Nena, Oh yes we believe in you, you havent seen Li Hong Yi but knows for a fact he looks like Cheng Yi. Maybe you can start confessing to us what drama of Li Hong Yi you watched to conclude he looks like Cheng Yi. Coz as far as we know, only Cheng Yi fans are so obsessed with Li Hong Yi when LHY fans dont even claim he looks like Cheng Yi. Li Hong Yi is more handsome for us, and more manly in looks with Asian brownish skintone, not ultra or superficial white of your idol actor Cheng Yi who can also pass for BL casting.

  11. Lol it’s all really funny.

He just learned a lesson after he made too much fuss over a certain other role that ended up escaping him because of it and now he knows it’s better to lie low and not lose again.

Losing a few fans is nothing when compared to losing a whole drama. Not that this can in any way compare to the one he lost but it’s something.

    • @Haha, Im I guessing I know the kind of Haha hater this is. Is your idol that half breed European looking idol actor who’s trying so hard to get into big ticket ancient Asian costume dramas when he doesnt even look the part anywhere passable to an ancient person of East Asia or for that matter ancient China. Haha indeed. Dude, Li Hong Yi is not your competition, go look somewhere else like Xiao Zhan, or Song Wei Long.

  12. Thank God I did some Google. Or just let all the vultures in here feast on a Topic they claim they dont care about, but made all the efforts to be rude to the Gentleman good actor LHY & comment slyly anyway! Good luck on your idols, at least Li Hong Yi has a new drama from a great visionary Directors, and will be with a FL who’s the prettiest Chinese actress of her age. You dont need to be obvious and pretend you’re not interested, coz you’ll watch it anyway when its out, so you can vent out you anger & envy the more. lmao. Ciao!
