Well whatever next drama top actor Kim Soo Hyun picks right now is definitely going to get even more attention that regularly warranted thanks to the mega hit romance K-drama Queen of Tears. K-ent is reporting that he’s in talks for his next drama titled Nock Off with rising young female lead Kim Si Eun, who has been supporting in quite a few dramas but by chance I’ve not watched any of those lol. Nock Off is described as a black comedy and will be from the PD of Secret Forest 2 and the screenwriter of Bad Guys and Squad 38. Let’s wait and see if one or both confirm and learn more about the story as further details are released.
The female lead is from the same agency as KSH so it’s kind of confirmed that he will be a part of this project.
Not sure about the PD&writer as i haven’t watched their work but hopefully it will be a good collaboration. And pls no romance angle between the two.
The plot about fake luxury goods along with the joke in the title sounds fun.
I guess he wants to promote an actress from his agency but isn’t she really young? About 23 or something? I hope there is no loveline. The age gap would be gross and it would not be a good look for KSY considering the rumours about him with two of the women previously signed to his agency especially with the very recent Kim Saw Ron post and delete controversy.
the writer’s previous dramas don’t really have romance storylines and of course Secret Forest has none.
but even if there was….she’s born in 2000? ages 24 and 36 is not some outrageous age gap between lead actors lol. As if there haven’t been kdramas with equal or bigger age gaps between leads (both male and female) before.
In the early 2010s people used to nitpick about Kim Soo Hyun being cast opposite older actresses before, now we’re nitpicking about younger actresses lol
@Royal We Echo every single thing ^^
Even if there was a love line – who cares? It’s clearly not the focus of a black comedy. Also, there’s nothing gross about and age difference pairing in dramas. SHK-PBG, Gong Yoo-KGE and LBY-LJS paired up for some of the most popular and successful kdramas. And those are all love stories. This is clearly not…
It’s a matter of opinion. I thought all those age gaps @Butterfly used as an example were distasteful too.
@Sunny:
Distasteful in your opinion? Sure.
Gross – the word you initially used? Nope.
The dude is 36 for God’s sake,why are you guys trying to make him sound like , an old grandpa or something
They both are grown up. I don’t see any issue with age gap.
It was pretty clear that the whole “controversy” was a notice me tactic from someone exiled from the industry. But even if not, his personal life is none of our business and what’s gross isn’t the age difference. It’s the people linking his personal dating life – something they have no info on and something he’s free to do as he will – with what he chooses to do in his career.
Well could be his next girlfriend …oops being snarky here haha
Not judging, he’s free in his private life to do whatever he wants. He’s a great actor and people should just enjoy his work and it’s really great to see his craft (I’m a fan of his performance in QOt)
Such comments are disrespectful to the actress
And the actor. 12 years age gap is nothing if they are both consenting adults. Not that other people’s relationship is any of our business. We are consumers, the PRODUCT is his acting, NOT his personal life.
Agree, very disrespectful to the actor as well. It’s just casting news and bam, we have speculations that he’s going to hook up with the female lead. This is the exact reason why he’s always so awkward around his female leads outside the drama, even his close friend IU during Producers promotions.
I prefer to read comments critiquing actors’ performance and works but not any speculation about their private lives. That’s none of our business. LOL.
I seriously couldn’t give less fucks on who the female lead is as long as she can act. This isn’t a romance, melo or sageuk so it just doesn’t matter, and KSH’s name is more than enough to propel any project. However, I’d love to know who the rest of the gang is. Surely this is more of an ensemble considering it’s sort of a heist, con-man type drama. A very long shot, but Lee Hyun Woo reuniting with KSH would make my year! Please make it happen dramagods!
Secretly, Greatly is prob one of Kim Soo-hyun’s best work and his chemistry with Lee Hyun-woo was legendary. Some people still ship them today 🤣 if there is a secondary partner role, I will also start a prayer circle for it to be LHW! That would be such a popular reunion!!
Any drama he is part of is get Top rating
Kim Si Eun won most of the Best new actress awards last year for role in the movie “Next Sohee”, before she signed with his agency. I just hope she will be good.
And tbh I don’t want any loveline between them either. Strangely, I’m okay with Seol In Ha and Jung Kyoung Ho age gap, but here this seems not my cup of tea.
Anyway, considering how rarely Kim Soo Hyun is filmed, I hope that the drama will be good
I’m quite sure this is confirmed as they are both from the same agency. I hope he is not doing it just to support a hoobae’s career. This better be worth his time – the writer does not have anything to boast about but the PD did do one of the best sageuks ever in Princess’ Man. Generally, I’d trust KSH’s judgement when it comes to picking scripts but with his agency being involved, I am slightly hesitant.
I do think KSH has skills to nail a black comedy. I’m enjoying QoT so far and see him being funny sometimes.
I have seen Next Sohee who she was the lead of last year. She was really good – reminds me of a Kim Da Mi. Minus the Blue Dragon Awards, she did a sweep for best new actress in all other awards including Daejong, Baeksang, Buil, Busan, Grand Bell. That’s quite the achievement I’d say. Great break for her to work with someone as accomplished as KSH for her first lead role in a drama. It’s great to see talented actor/actresses getting opportunities. If KSH accepts, then it’s likely a going to be good. He has not a single bad drama in his career. And seeing him in a true Black Comedy is gonna be so much fun! I just hope it’s on both TV and OTT. I don’t usually enjoy OTT-only dramas.
I dont get it. Why people scream so loud about their age gap while you enioy watching noona dongaaeng with the same age gap. Remember when i commented about Honey Lee’s drama with a young ML, you all said ‘it doesnt matter’ but when it comes to a 36 y.o KSH and this 24 FL, you guys cant accept it. Why????? It’s not like he’s a grandpa…
Hypocrisy at its finest.
It is literally one person who said something about the age gap and everyone else came after the commenter person. Majority of the audience does not give a rats ass about the age gap or even realized there was one. As soon as the drama promos come out, no doubt the general audience will be gushing about it so who cares if there are random complainers initially? I personally dont enjoy dramas without some element of romance so would like to see it even if it’s not the focal point.
I “came after” that comment as you put it, because I found it stupid and apparently unable to draw a line between the actor’s (speculated) private life and actual work.
Like I said, it’s not some outrageous age gap and she’s not a teenager, this isn’t like when Kim Yoojung or Kim Sohyun were 15-18 and getting cast with actors 10+ years older than them, back then netizens raised a stink at the idea of a 15 year old getting cast to play a concubine to a 30 year old actor and they were right to do so.
We don’t even know anything about the project yet beyond its genre, all this speculation about how there will be a love line and it’ll be “gross” is just jumping the gun massively especially since KSH already did One Ordinary Day so clearly is open to projects that aren’t romance dramas.
Lol why are you acting like older ML and younger FL pairing is not the norm in Kdrama as well as in other movies industry. There are dramas where ML is 10yr older than FL but they are shown to be same age, whereas in opposite case it is called noona romance. Only now I see some people calling it out otherwise it is treated as a usual thing.
I am always onboard for anything Kim Soo-hyun does. I even watched One Ordinary Day for him and that was such a depressing and heavy drama. This new one sounds so much fun. Like others said, it looks to be confirmed at this point. Hoping it comes out this year or very early next.
Is this him carrying a younger colleague from the same agency situation? Because it smells of that.
Lol, it doesn’t smells of that, it’s like that. But not from the same agency, from his agency.
P.S.: I don’t see anything bad with that.
@Olesya
Depends whether she is a talented actress or not. Promoting young talent is great, it gives them exposure and a leg up. Nothing wrong with that.
But most of the time in these situations it’s not about talent but about connections and money. Plenty of wrong with that one. So it depends which of the two this is.
@Hmm
Someone already listed the number of awards she won last year for her movie. That is more than enough to prove she’s not some random person they are promoting via connections and money.
