Tan Song Yun and Zheng Ye Cheng’s Tang Dynasty Period Drama Brocade Odyssey Gets Airing Permit — 22 Comments

  1. I only heard about positive reviews and praises about these two lead actors. I’m looking forward to this upcoming drama. Hopefully it won’t be as disappointing as Under the Power and The Sword and the Brocade.

    • I read about Zheng Ye Cheng’s background in Chinese Opera… I was very surprised.

Tan Song Yun is a solid actress..her recent drama is actually not bad. She actually made Xu Kai look relaxed into his role. I find that amazing skill.

      • exactly, that is because of Tan Songyun’s skill and I like Ku Kai more now than ever before he was so woody with other actresses

        @Jackie J Pomerleano

TSY is a very good actress. She is five years older than XK, but you don’t feel that at all. Their chemistry in ABAY is off the chart. I want to see them in another drama together. It’s my favorite drama for XK.

      • IMO, TSY is one of those very few C actresses who had great chemistry with almost all her male costars. Although I’ve never finished any of her dramas thanks to bad scripts and stale directing, I observed her consistent skills to bring her characters alive. She is way better than many more popular C actresses out there.

I’ll be thrilled if she can work with Xiao Zhan someday.

  3. I dislike her visuals but as long as she CAN act, I’ll be fine. Also, I hope she will not be described as gorgeous because she’s not (like Wu Jin Yang in The Double).

    • @Boom boom boom

She is not the prettiest actress, but she is cute and very likeable. Her look is kind of unique. Most of the times she picked very good dramas to work on.

  4. He’s in a lot of dramas but he doesn’t seem to break out. I don’t find him bad but just doesn’t have that it factor. He’s good looking but a bit too polish if you know what I mean. Like he looks prettier than most of female actresses. These days actors who looks more rough around the edges gives off more manly feel.

    • Interesting because I don’t think he is prettier than most of female actresses, he doesn’t have femenine features at all. I find him to be above-average looking. Better than plain but still not gorgeous.

      • I like him because of his martial arts. Even Jackie Chan praised his abilities, which are from the old school “mo si” training. His dramas usually have one or two great action sequences which he did himself.

      • LOL you said the exact same comment ab Hou Ming Hao when someone said he is so pretty ,can you just say something new

      • @MERRY Stop suffering because people don’t share your tastes and opinions. LOL. You’re the one who should consider something new called preferences. Hahaha. Compared to the beauties of their own countries, I find them plain. If you can’t stand it, stay off the Internet.

  5. You are right about Tang Song Yun not being a flower, but here she looks like she got some micro changes, like the nose. No worries, the ML will compensate for the FL; he is so good looking.

  6. Out of the other two dramas you mentioned, I actually look forward to this one and am curious how it will do. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Zheng Ye Cheng as a ML.

  7. Her nose is a plastic surgery job, and a bad one too. It doesn’t show in modern dramas but it does in costumes.

He has zero presence for me so hopefully she can carry this.

  8. Good-looking men paired with a plain woman. I always see the opposite (both in fiction and reality), so it’s refreshing to me.

    • It is a matter of preference. I don’t find harmony in her face to consider she has a cute beauty type. I am crazy about faces with three dimensions like Takeshi Kaneshiro, Wang Xing Yue, Hu Lian Xin, Kim Ji Won. Artists like Liu Yifei, Xiao Zhan, Angelababy are indeed good-looking. But I personally am not moved by them because their bone structure is not remarkable, I consider that in their own industry there are more attractive actors than them.

      • Only visually. While some of them may not necessarily be my type, their talent is what determines whether they make it onto my favorites list or not.
