It’s a fresh new image for K-actress Seo Ye Ji in her first public event since joining her new agency. She’s been on hiatus for two years since her last drama Eve, and been on the downtrend since her 2021 scandal with being a controlling girlfriend and gaslighting her then boyfriend Kim Jung Hyun. Her scandal wasn’t anything illegal but was enough for the upright and moral focused K-netizens to no longer like her. Prior to the scandal she was riding high off It’s Okay to Not be Okay and had cultivated a very sleek, chic, and high fashion almost sharp angular image, less broad smiles and more haughty which K-netizens loved right after the drama. Her return now she’s changed up her image to be feminine and fresh and she looks great here at a cosmetics event in Seoul. Once she does a steadier stream of events and lines up her next projects she’ll be able to get back on track.
Her looks has changed…she is really a beauty.
Interestingly, I don’t see much change in her facial features here except for heavier makeup. She looked the same in these pics as in the two old dramas of hers I watched not long ago.

As an observer who has no stake in this game, this has been going on for a while on this site… I feel like it started with Doe bringing her up in all those QoT/KSH related articles and comparing her to other actresses, insulting those other actresses, and constantly reharping on her supposed better chemistry with him. SYJ probably had some haters before but Doe just lit a spark with KSH fans. I feel bad for other SYJ fans like MummaBear, who doesn’t instigates but obviously will speak up to defend SYJ.
Honestly, her private life is her private life. What she did or didn’t do (as long as it’s not a crime) is nobody’s business. Not like any one of us is perfect. As the saying goes, he that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone.

Good styling could go a long way to tweak or give a little change in once appearance without a person doing PS. It like has technology advanced, people are finding new ways to use products knowledgeably to their advantage on what it want to achieve.

Yup exactly. The whole issue with her scandal was that it broke out at a time when she was practically known for her IOTNBO character. So the impact of it was much bigger because viewers were linking her character to the actor either consciously or subconsciously. By changing to a more cutesy sweet image, they can try and remove that stigma from her image. I honestly think she should go for the Kim Seonho route and start off with more genre work. Because she already tried coming back with romance through Eve and chose a character again – similar to IOTNBO. That failed spectacularly as one would expect. Time will tell what what path she takes but cleaning up her image is the first step.
Oh and unlike her pathetic weasel fans, I will not be bringing in other actresses and their success compared to her. I will take the high road but its very tempting after their very recent trolling.

I havent seen any video but I picture it well. She used to have that fake innocent image when she was doing Moorim but it probably had a bit more realism then since she was actually new. Doing that today is just hysterical but it is the only other image her agency could have chosen. The exact opposite of her previous one. Its interesting to actually see a celebrity creating an image in real time. Most of us know subconsciously that someone might not be showing their true face, but in her case we know it as a fact that she is slapping a new fake face (pun unintended) on. Do we have other examples of celebs who have done this? It’s a very unusual and funny situation.

I’m pretty entertained to read some comments. I usually don’t take actor’s persona outside drama that seriously. As I have reiterated several times, what matters to me is actor’s performance in drama/film. I’m not that much interested in anything other than her works. Therefore, it puzzles me why drama fans could be so invested in anything off screen, like what the actress wore, what she said, how she smiled, or behaved in front of press camera. Are these signs to tell whether she can act or not? LOL.
Somebody, I find this “my girl is this”/”your girl is that” incredible too. I will never understand fan psychology! Or I should say fan psychopathology, because I myself have some favourite actors but my choices are made on their acting abilities (ok to be honest in a very few occasions they are influenced by looks too, but I would never get how we can argue over looks).
@ Nena, exactly 💯,I mean we all have a favourite actors we love to watch regardless of what others think of them and their main job is acting, their looks comes in second.Acting keeps audiences and with only looks audience will begin to fade and even be more judgemental. Weather one is faking their looks or attitude in real life shouldn’t really matter, when they are acting are they not faking too. At the end of the day , so far has the actors get a job, their acting will speak for them.

If SYJ still gets endorsements, then that indicates positive prospects about her comeback. SYJ comeback was the matter of time. And she probably could return way sooner if she would choose weekends TV dramas or web-dramas. But I think she wants to work with some better project.
Kim Jung Hyun choose way with weekend dramas. Somehow I’m interested which way will help better, and who of them will return the shine of their career sooner. Since their relationship become a topic here, again, I don’t see a problem to discuss their careers, so don’t come to me.
Anyway, both of them are good charismatic actors, and probably would be on the top now if not their scandals. Would watch their dramas as soon as the plot would be interesting to me, and I think both of them sooner or later would be okay far away from each other.

But the latter is an great observation. Mumma Bear went as far as antagonizing @HL – who is probably the nicest, most fair commenter on this blog; all because she chose to stay neutral instead of being a SYJ arse kisser. That’s not the actions of a true fan who wants the best for their celebrity. Or a fan who hopes a neutral turns to a fan one day. That’s what a sasaeng would do; thrive in the “glory” of being known as the SYJ demon slayer. Ironically, she doesn’t even realize it. In her mind, she’s community serving.
