Kim Se Jung and Lee Jong Won Cross Skills and Foment Chemistry in Posters and Preview for ENA Rom-com Brewing Love

Keeping expectations low is the name of the game for me when it comes to upcoming November K-drama Brewing Love. I enjoy both leads Kim Se Jung and Lee Jong Won but remain easily disappointed with K-drama rom-com plots these days. But then I remember how Kim Se Jung hit it out of the part with A Business Proposal and Lee Jong Won impresses across genres and different age group female leads and I’m back on the hopeful train. I do love the two official posters, so cute and charming even if standard poses, and the teaser trailer gives us an early preview of their onscreen chemistry.

    • fits with their drama concept lol

everything now depends on the script, if it’s bad I don’t think they can save it. As seen from A Business Proposal, KSJ is a good enough actress to carry a drama even when her male lead isn’t up to her skill level….as long as the writers know what to do with them. If they don’t, she’s not really to blame.

  2. These days you can only hope the script holds out. These 2 have good visual compatibility already and the chemistry seems on point in trailer. But if its a dud script, nothing can save it. Like Love Next Door. That to me was the biggest dud of the year. I dropped it at ep 4 because the writing was atroucious (they did JSM dirty. Her character was so annoying) and it made the chemistry between the leads contrived and extremely cringey. It was meant to be a romcom but funny it was not and it turned dramatic mid arc.

    • International fans are so desperate to ship another kdrama couple that they force themselves to endure a bad drama. LOL.
I think Korean viewers are more picky and discerning.

    • LND was dreadful in absolutely every regard from the acting, to the chemistry, script quality, direction and that all reflected in the ratings. There was nothing to salvage it and outside of the diehards, it’s so far the biggest disappointment of the year. Also didn’t help that there was a decent level of expectations that it can at least break double digits. Didn’t even come remotely close.

This drama isn’t as hyped and I think if they can keep it as light hearted and charming as BP, it has the potential to be another rom com sleeper hit this year. Looks cute to me so far and KSJ has such a knack for generating chemistry with her costars. It’s not as common a trait as one might think.

  3. I find LJW to be a great actor. He never did let me down with his acting so far.
KSJ is highly dependent on how much she want to act well and feeling whatever she needs to feel to make her act good enough.
As always, I worry much more about everything else so acting is a much lesser worry. Scriptwriters can really seriously mess up badly a drama.

  4. They really should ease up on the make up. I for real thought this was a girl romance lol if I did not look carefully enough. He is so pretty as is and the make up so gives off a feminine charm. But granted it may also be due to editing to the pics as well but I guess we live in an age of heavy makeup now with dramas. It reminds me of black and white movies. So much was needed than but is it so necessary now? Despite this it actually looks cute. But like everyone mentioned hopefully the script matches up to it. Love next door got better after episode four though but the ending of the drama was a bit bland but never the less a happy ending.

    • Although make up can be a case, I think it’s just Lee Jong Won himself. He seems to be good actor and can to show whatever written on the script, and he can be pretty manly on screen, but in his real life photos, videos and photoshoots he gives more androgenic side

  5. Aw I love this pairing. Although advised to keep expectation low on romcom that I agree, I’m following a hilarious and fun romcom now, Shooting Stars. Such a blessing for me to randomly find this 2022 drama to watch! Lee Sung-kyung and Kim Young-dae have become one my favorite OTPs including Park Hyung-Sik/Park Bo-young and Hyun Bin/Son Ye-jin etc.

Hopefully, Brewing Love will be another romcom I love although I’m usually not a fan of this genre and very picky about it.

  6. Expecting this to be a hit as well, I got tired at a point whilst watching Love next door, the portrait of the female lead was off and dramatic, when it was supposed to be a romantic drama instead it was dramatically chaos. I liked it along the way though. Hope this will be better.
