C-actress Tang Yan must’ve felt like the last week was getting sideswiped by a train with the Wong Kar Wei voice recording leak speaking negatively about her. But that’ll pass and what’s more concerning is that she may be returning to less serious projects due to not getting the big serious works she thought she would get after the breakout from Blossoms Shanghai. She did get one with Lady Liberty which is done filming and likely to release in 2026. But thereafter industry chatter is that she is getting a lot more offers than before BH but not ones that she wants, i.e. serious works that are award fodder and continue to cement her new-ish reputation as a big actress. In that vein, the casting carousel is saying that she has reluctantly accepted her next project the C-drama Deng Yun Ling (登云令) adapted from a novel set in a period era around a merchant family child avenging her parents betrayal. Her casting isn’t confirmed yet but more likely than not will happen.
