Kim Jae Won Joins MBC Epic Sageuk Alongside Cha Seung Won and Lee Yeon Hee
Yay for a shining light of drama casting news to wrap up January on an upbeat note. I thought casting was complete for the leads of the upcoming MBC epic 50-episode sageuk Princess Jeongmyung (Splendid Politics) after signing on Cha Seung Won and Lee Yeon Hee with a side of pretty boy Seo Kang Joon playing the princess love interest. In this case it’s not marginalizing the older actor since Cha Seung Won and Lee Yeon Hee can’t exactly have a love line what with him playing the antagonist crown usurper Gwanghaegun (Lee Hon) while she’s his half-sister Princess Jeongmyung. Joseon incest NOT!
Now the cast has upped the star quotient another level with the addition of yet another leading man in Kim Jae Won. Wooooo! It’ll be his first drama since 2013’s MBC weekend melo Scandal: That Shocking and Immoral Incident and his first sageuk in nearly 10 years since Hwang Jin Yi. He’ll be playing future King Injo, the 16th Joseon King, which makes him the nephew to Gwanghaegun and Princess Jeongmyung. Thank god prolific patriarch King Seonjo had dozens of kids all spread out in age so it’s plausible that grandson Lee Jong (future King Injo) can be the same ages as the older generation. This cast is looking so yummy with talent and/or looks I can’t even!
While not one of the leads, the always amazing Lee Sung Min will also be in the drama playing a major supporting role as the genius consigliere and future Prime Minister of Joseon. This drama won’t premiere until the spring after Shine or Go Crazy completes its run on the Mon-Tues time slot. I have a good feeling about this one, please don’t muck it up MBC!
OMG… Kim Jae Won is back. Definitely not gonna miss it.
This one first caught my eye for Lee Yeon Hee, whom I’ve only seen in what many say was her best work, Miss Korea. Then when I heard Lee Sung Min was on board I decided to definitely give it a go. I suspect that if I stick it out he will be the reason. Although Ms. Lee does look very good in traditional clothes, if the promos for Joseon Detective 2 are any guide 🙂
Oh my goodness! I am so looking forward to this now…. thanks to drama gods !!!
This drama had me at Cha Seung Won and Lee Sung Min. Even lovelier with Lee Yeon Hee and Han Joo Wan. And now I just want it to air asap with Kim Jae Won. I hope this is good too because the cast is pretty much awesome. I don’t care much for Seo Kang Joon, so I hope there’s very little of him and the romance.
The more high profile actors that get added, the more I firmly believe this to be the case. It would have been hilarious if Joo Won were cast because hubby’s name IRL was Hong Joo Won.
This drama is just asking me to watch right? I can’t NOT watch Kim Jae Won after his missing in 2 years! His role looks meaty! So yay for the cast and Oppa! Although 50 eps sageuk seems too much for me
mbc probably still wants to reuse the props from all the sageuks that have recently aired/airing.
on another note try out shine or go crazy. so far its been enjoyable
So far, the cast of this drama is shaping up very nicely. I can only hope that the script and directing will hold up, but since it’s MBC I have major doubts.
I’m so excited for this. Cha Seung Won, Lee Sung Min and Lee Yeon Hee? I was already on board but I’m even more excited that Kim Jae Won is coming back on screen. He’s not always been the best of actors but I’ve always liked him back in the early 2000s as the romantic leading man. He’s been improving significantly (or maybe just choosing better roles) after Can You Hear My Heart. Hopefully he’ll have another chance to shine and improve himself. Really hoping the story won’t let us down.
awesome! looking forward to this! yay!
cha seung won… heart palpitations!
kim jae won… swoon!
as much as i love jang hyuk, can we have this earlier instead of Shine or Go crazy?
I was gonna ask ms. Koala I thought the saeguk movie was lead by mr. Jang hyuk instead of mr. Cha. Then I realize that this drama is after the shine or go crazy. So, MBC does 2 period in one year? Both of them is 2015? Thanks for info ms. Koala
