Seeing K-actress Suzy at Incheon Airport this week leaving South Korea to attend the Christian Dior event confirms two fashion tastes for me. One, I really dislike the Dior saddle bag, have since it first came out and still find it so annoying with a neither here nor there sensibility. Second, no girl looks good in a low pleated skirt, where … Continue reading →
There’s a mixed reaction to TW-drama Before We Get Married with the domestic audience, it’s a cult hit with all valid criticisms. Leading lady Puff Guo‘s acting remains at the level from when she last worked with male lead Jasper Liu (Liu Yi Hao) while he’s improved leaps and bounds and it shows, but to an addicted viewers that doesn’t … Continue reading →
I think it’s pretty incredible that K-stars Cha Eun Woo and Shin Se Kyung are so pretty that they look good in any type of visuals. Some stars have modern features and don’t suit sageuks well and others seem to fit into period dramas seamlessly and are less impressive in modern roles. These two look perfect in their roles for … Continue reading →
Now don’t go kerchief twisting that I spoiled a major twist in tvN big budget sageuk Arthdal Chronicles. This so-called twist is nothing like someone yelling out the ending to The Sixth Sense of revealing a major detail in The Crying Game. This twist is coming early on in the three-season scheduled drama and also telegraphed in the first two … Continue reading →
The concept of upcoming tvN drama Melt Me (or Melt Me Softly or Let Me Melt) has shades of Hollywood flick Passengers. Here the two leads are supposed to be frozen for 24 hours and it ends up being 20 years, and once they are awake they are the only two who have lived through that wild situation. In Passengers … Continue reading →
There’s a modern Chinese saying “zero dead angles” that refers to a star who looks fabulous photographed or filmed from any angle. This is totally a thing because one hears about superstars dictating that photo shoots must only be snapped from a particular angle or flattering side. I think it’s rare to be a star that has zero dead angles, … Continue reading →
I’m pre-loving the set up for upcoming tvN drama Hotel Del Luna. It subverts the more prevalent of K-drama tropes with the male in charge and the woman as the straight man character to marvel at the extremes around him and course correct to make him the perfect guy for her. Here it’s IU as the thousands year old bossy … Continue reading →
This is a rather crappy thing to be saddled with but TW-actress Janine Chang is just so classy and cool about it that I think it’s even more amazing to write about. The 38-year old star is now Taiwan’s most eligible actress golden leftover girl after 44-year old top model-actress Lin Chi Ling announced her marriage last week. Also in … Continue reading →
This is a real work of art and coming 18 years after the original just makes it even more special. The theatrical release of the 2001 animated movie Spirited Away finally arrives in China next week as none of the famed animator Hayao Miyazaki‘s works have aired on the big screen in China until My Neighbor Totoro last December. Miyazaki … Continue reading →
I’ve heard that K-netizens think Astro‘s Cha Eun Woo is one of the most objectively handsome male faces in K-ent and now I believe it. The first solo stills are out for his role in upcoming MBC drama Rookie Historiam Goo Hae Ryung and I seriously jawdropped when I saw him as Prince Lee Rim. He looks almost too handsome … Continue reading →
It’s a rare miss for top TW-actress Shu Qi, or is it? I’m curious what my fellow fans here think, but the C-netizens are having none of what Shu Qi is wearing at this weekend’s 2019 Shanghai International Film Festival red carpets. She donned a pants suit with a far out leather and beaded 80’s style cropped members jacket, pleated … Continue reading →
The cheating scandal in Taiwan last week with singer-variety star Ah Xiang (Andy Chan) and variety hostess Cheryl Hsieh may be small potatoes to the greater Asian media but on the island it’s big news because of how ubiquitous the two are on the small screen hosting. After they were snapped kissing in the street, the latest development had Ah … Continue reading →
The Sat-Sun time slot was supposed to be owned by tvN this summer with Arthdal Chronicles but unfortunately the writing and directing is just weird and not engaging so the viewership at 6% averaging has been a disappointment for the massively budgeted production. OCN has always done darker far and now its upcoming Watcher has a good shot at carving … Continue reading →
