OMG Ady An I hate you! Wait, let me amend that, OMG Liang Mu Cheng I hate you! How can you still be sandwiched between those two gorgeous guys four years later? Why is there no justice in the world? For me at least, because I would be in a state somewhere between swooning and grabbing if I were her. … Continue reading →
I might have to rescind my vow to take a break from SETTV, I might be able to stay away from the next Sunday night idol drama but the upcoming Thursday night offering looks way too cute for me to miss. Tentatively titled Just Want to Make You Love Me, the workplace rom-com starring Aaron Yan and Puff Guo is … Continue reading →
I’m slowly unwinding from riding the King Flower train and this one needs a gradual debarkation process like any other drama that gets me all worked up. MC40, who plays harmless cheery Da Li, posted the picture above last night on the Da Mouth FB page and I thought it so cute and wonderful I had to share. James Wen … Continue reading →
While I was watching CP3 (Chinese Paladin 3), my shipping wires were all crossed because I didn’t feel anything for the OTP played by Hu Ge and Yang Mi, and was instead very inappropriately shipping him with Liu Shi Shi. Folks who watched it will understand why I say inappropriate. I also wasn’t particularly enamored of the secondary OTP played … Continue reading →
After watching the just released 10-minute official trailer, there are so many expletive-laden things I want to say about Bu Bu Jing Qing, the upcoming modern day sequel to the time-traveling Qing dynasty period drama Bu Bu Bing Xin, but I’ll hold it all in for now. The 10-minute trailer destroys even the last shred of hope I had that … Continue reading →
A nostalgic walk down memory lane is oh so sweet and I’ve found myself revisiting dramas when the mood calls for it. As a viewer I get pretty attached to some dramas so its no wonder that the cast and crew who actually live and breath making a drama can form lasting friendships at times. As King Flower readies for … Continue reading →
Ask and ye shall receive? Pray really hard and it’ll come true? Kindred spirits unite and the impossible will become a reality? I don’t know what topsy-turvy back office discussions went on in the production of King Flower but I do know it’s been both an exhilarating and aggravating experience watching it live. Especially the last two months when Chris … Continue reading →
The re-jiggering of episode count for King Flower, which ends this week with episode 21 which is just about right for SETTV Sunday night idol dramas, that means follow up drama Love Around (真愛黑白配 True Love Black and White Pair) starts on Sunday June 9th. I’m going to guess its ratings will easily double that of KF, which has been … Continue reading →
Some C-dramas finish filming and sit in the vault gathering dust for various reasons. It sucks and can’t find a broadcast network, there’s no money left to finish post-production, the drama can’t clear SARFT approval for whatever reason, anything goes in what feels like the Wild West of television programming in China. The typical wait is between 6 months to … Continue reading →
Looks like a bunch of new TW-dramas are starting in the next few weeks, though my gut tells me most will likely be atrocious with maybe one watchable surprise. The bigger serendipity is that all three remaining Fahrenheit boys will be on television at the same time, with two going head-to-head for ratings. Jiro Wang is currently headlining the Taiwan … Continue reading →
So last week all the employees of SETTV had a collective hernia when everyone received a memo titled “Work place romances are hereby prohibited.” It went on to detail why and how to behave at work and so on and so forth. I’m sure lunch that day was a gossip fueled rant, probably about how their boss must’ve gotten rebuffed … Continue reading →
At what point do I just throw in the flag and declare defeat? Tell SETTV that their devious and totally effective plan to put me in a mental salad spinner worked. I am now completely dazed and confused, and when I see new goodies for King Flower I’m left cooing like a puppy getting my belly rubbed even if I … Continue reading →
Wow, who let the awesome dogs out over at PTS? While GTV and SETTV duke it out for frothy idol-fare and CTS and CTV barely hang in there airing crap filler dramas, PTS has long been the home for the good stuff that doesn’t always catch my eye. The last time a PTS drama won my everlasting love was Black … Continue reading →
