The other upcoming I-see-dead-people K-drama The Master’s Sun has quietly started filming two weeks ago and I’m loving the massive head start this drama got. It’s slated to air on SBS Wed-Thurs after I Hear Your Voice, and if that drama gets a four-episode extension from sixteen to twenty episodes due to the good ratings, then TMS won’t air until … Continue reading →
Even as SETTV is riding the coattails of the repeat pairing of tabloid friendly George Hu and Annie Chen in Love Around, the network might actually have an even juicier and more promising something something happening over on Friday night on the set of Just You. Co-stars Puff Guo and Aaron Yan hit it off right from the start, gushing … Continue reading →
We have a winner, folks! To wash away the triple stench of the recent premiere of three abysmally terrible TW-dramas (Love Around, Love Touch, and Love SOS), SETTV managed to do something small-scale yet utterly hits the spot. Just You premiered this Thursday night and it was immediate and utter love from beginning to end in episode 1. I actually … Continue reading →
Just about everything and everyone involved in the upcoming TW-drama Just You garners a positive vibe from me. Aaron Yan has been a leading man a few times already but it was with his last drama Alice in Wonder City that I saw a vast improvement from him in range and technique. I had issues with the writing and his … Continue reading →
Filming has started for the kids section of the upcoming sageuk Goddess of Fire but the adults are gathering soon for poster shooting. That means Kim Bum will finally be joining the rest of the cast including Moon Geun Young, Lee Sang Yoon, Han Go Eun, and Kwang Soo. The cast has held a script writing already but Kim Bum … Continue reading →
I’m not gonna get my hopes up, but I can at least express pure unbridled delight when I watched the just released 4-minute trailer for the upcoming TW-drama Just You (Chinese title Just Want to Make You Love Me). This isn’t rocket science and clearly every single rom-com cliche is getting thrown into a blender, but hot diggity this ensuing … Continue reading →
When one’s beloved novel is getting a live-action adaptation, there is always the fervent hope that it doesn’t get butchered tempered by the dream of seeing it finally come to life outside of the words on the page and the images in one’s own imagination. I’ve been through the process so many times whether its English novels, Japanese manga, or … Continue reading →
There must be so much behind the scenes going-ons that I wish I were a fly on the wall in production companies. Sonia Sui, who reportedly turned down SETTV’s King Flower to focus on her movie career, is headed back to the small screen to make GTV’s upcoming The Pursuit of Happiness. Her co-star is none other than SETTV main … Continue reading →
I may abhor Lin Guan Jun with all my heart and soul in King Flower, but I really really appreciate having James Wen rising up through the ranks in the Taiwan entertainment industry with hard work and dedication. He’s fast approaching Susan Lucci status having been nominated for four Golden Bell Awards (Taiwan’s Emmys) and lost each time. Four is … Continue reading →
I was on a flight Sunday that was massively delayed, which worked out to allow me to chill at the airport lounge and watch all three of the new TW-dramas premiering that night. SETTV had Love Around with Annie Chen and George Hu, going up against CTV‘s Love SOS starring Daniel Chan, Jian Man Shu, and Patrick Li, and both … Continue reading →
Not all onscreen pairings are created equal, some sound great on paper and fizzle in action, others come out of left field and blow everyone away unexpectedly. Since Aaron Yan has never worked with SETTV before, it never crossed my mind he would manage to work with one of their stable of up-and-coming young actresses. Now he’s about to co-star … Continue reading →
I’m pretty sure the most popular OTP in Taiwan dramas right now just landed on the cover of the June edition of S Pop magazine together. The two leads of the popular and highly-rated daily SETTV sitcom Two Fathers have taken the My Two Dads (or Three Men and a Little Lady) conceit and refreshed it for a new generation … Continue reading →
I’m probably one of the few people out there totally and completely worn out from the King Flower journey. It’s both a feeling of intense satisfaction and utter depletion. That’s what a Terry-less existence does to me, but as usual the drama churn moves on and this Sunday SETTV unveils its next Sunday night idol-drama offering Love Around. Starring George … Continue reading →
