This chapter of Lost You Forever is beautiful and bittersweet for all three male leads. Each had a chance with Xiao Yao at some point in their interactions with her and either blew it (Jing), never did anything (Xiang Liu), or can’t do anything (Zhuan Xu). Chapter 26 sticks them all together with her at a wedding and boy is … Continue reading →
http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z392/Jomo143/sla14/agony_zpsda96a2b6.png The most puzzling relationship portrayed in this series is between wife Hye Won and her husband Joon Hyung. Why him, Hye Won? Surrounded by many musical and creative people back then, was he the only option? How detached could she have been to enter into this sham of convenience? Maybe the answers don’t matter because nobody ends up in … Continue reading →
There are a myriad of reasons for entertainers to take a sabbatical in their careers, sometimes by necessity such as mandatory military service for the Korean men, or personal reasons, or simply a lack of good projects in the pipeline. I can only chalk up Kim Bum disappearing from the radar for the last six months as a sabbatical due … Continue reading →
In the day and age of too much media saturation and PPL overload, I appreciate when a project openly declares its intention and doesn’t muddle up the joint with anything else. Companies are now sponsoring content to the degree above simply PPL and earlier this year Lotte Duty Free reunited popular costars Jang Geun Seok and Park Shin Hye for … Continue reading →
For all the fans of In a Good Way who thought this drama was going to coast to a happy ending with the same low-key mood and plot that has come to define it, it’s time to meet episode 25 and experience a resounding thwack to the head. I felt my head spinning from midway through the episode and the pressure … Continue reading →
There is a very pithy saying that the readers of Tong Hua novels have coined and it kills me each time to hear it repeated. “There was Xiang Liu in ancient times of gods and demons, he was reincarnated into Meng Jiu in historical times, only to end up as Lu Li Cheng in modern day.” I’ve read all three … Continue reading →
http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z392/Jomo143/sla13/game_zps08853f04.png If Seohan had been an ancient kingdom and Hye Won a man, King Seo would have been wise to employ her skills to lead his troops. Her comfort with and talent in waging battle on several fronts simultaneously impress me. I can imagine marshalling thousands of troops would not daunt her any more than dealing with all the intricacies … Continue reading →
I’m finding 2014 a better year for K-dramas so far than 2013 was during the same period of time, but 2014 hasn’t yielded the bumper crop of K-celeb dating couples as 2013 did. One can argue 2014 made up for the lack of quantity with the increase in quality in the sense that it was more high profile stars finding … Continue reading →
It’s reassuring that You’re All Surrounded solidified its footing and pace by the second episode now that the action remains in the present timeline completely and the set-up is done. This drama did a swell job with its opening salvo, splicing the teenage past sequence in the middle of the first episode with just enough information to set the stage but without dragging anything out. The … Continue reading →
I love Moon Geun Young even when she’s plowing through acting dreck like Goddess of Fire. She has this earnestness in acting that makes her performances easy to watch even if it doesn’t always click all the way. Her sincerity also makes her a great actress to follow because I get the sense she acts because she likes it as … Continue reading →
With Ji Hyun Woo just released from the army, it triggered a remembrance that another Korean actor I liked went off to the army right before Ji Hyun Woo so where the heck is he now? Lee Joon Hyuk enlisted in June of 2012 and should have been out by now but I didn’t hear a peep from the media. A quick … Continue reading →
When the drama gods decide to giveth I can only be grateful for the bounty with nary a peep about the overabundance of it. Its been premiere central these past two weeks in K-drama land and I’m currently watching five out of the six prime time dramas. I hope a few will stumble soon and I can drop it like … Continue reading →
I still remember how openly the popular messaging app LINE was featured all over You From Another Star. It made for great comedic drunken Chun Song Yi fodder for sure but might’ve even fit better into the other SBS drama Heirs since it’s all about teenagers there and who else texts as much as teens these days. Lee Min Ho was in … Continue reading →
