I try to refrain from overusing the word awesome but nothing quite describes episode 12 of In A Good Way as much as screaming out “It was so awesome!!!” and then making victory fist pumps. The Taiwan domestic audience thought so as well and after sitting in the 2s for the last ten episodes the drama surged dramatically and broke … Continue reading →
New C-drama alert and this one looks interesting enough to catch my eye. Filming has just started for the period 1930’s Shanghai drama called Cruel Romance (Chinese title é¦ē»£ē¼åäø½åé© The Destiny of Jin Xiu’s Extravagant Adventure) starring C-actorĀ Huang Xiaoming and TW-actressĀ Chen Qiao En. Huang Xiaoming has been exclusively doing movies for the last five years though this past year in … Continue reading →
Sometimes posts just write itself based on news releases so it’s not a concerted decision to do two back-to-back Kim Soo Hyun posts. Kim Soo Hyun recently addedĀ Samsonite Red luggage and bags to his list of endorsements, taking over for Song Joong Ki who is currently out of commission and serving in the army. Choosing Kim Soo Hyun to take … Continue reading →
Who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth, even if its totally out-of-the-blue. Acting-limited Suzy will be making a cameo appearance in the ratings bonanza popular hit SBS dramaĀ You From Another Star, reuniting her with her Dream High leading man Kim Soo Hyun and effectively turning me into a pile of mushy nostalgic goo. There are tons … Continue reading →
Kang Ji Hwan has worked equally with all three major television networks in Korea but for the last 6 years he’s only done SBS dramas. None of them have been as big of a hit for him as some of his iconic roles such as in the KBSĀ fusion sageuk Hong Gil Dong or the MBCĀ dailyĀ Be Strong Geum Soon. Back in … Continue reading →
This week’s Empress Ki will air only 1 episode thanks to the preemption for the Olympics. It’s a bit of a shame because I feel like the drama is really getting to the meat and potatoes of its story. The ascension of Seung Nyang from a warrior maiden into a calculating and determined Empress is every bit as interesting as … Continue reading →
I’m so glad Miss Korea turned out to be a 20-episode drama otherwise I’d be suffering a double dose of withdrawal symptoms if it wrapped up last week at the same time as Prime Minister and I. Ā Miss Korea’s follow up drama Cunning Single Lady with Joo Sang Wook and Lee Min Jung is gearing up for a premiere in … Continue reading →
This is the most beautiful photo shoot I’ve seen in years. Each and every picture is a work of art in both composition and how the model brings her outfit to life. Hallyu actress Lee Young Ae hasn’t acted in nearly a decade since she was the star in THE biggest K-drama hit of all time Dae Jang Geum. This … Continue reading →
I don’t really do so-called Throwback Thursdays but I did do a series of posts called Oldies But Goodies that hasn’t been added to in awhile. When I started blogging this particular goody wasn’t an oldie in the least but it’s since been four years past so I think it qualifies now. Back in Jan 2010 one of Korea’s top … Continue reading →
I enjoy how cultural norms vary, sometimes leading to a new way to look at things while other times making me scratch my head endlessly still unable to wrap my mind around certain seemingly odd practices. This particular one is harmless but very strange indeed. Maybe it happens in other countries as well so chime up if you’ve heard of … Continue reading →
Well hubba hubba this is some unexpected sexiness to start off the new year. I think it’s safe to say the reinvention of nice bland Kim Jae Won‘s image is well underway and I couldn’t be happier. I have watched so many Kim Jae Won movies and dramas over the years and it’s taken all the way until 2013 and … Continue reading →
Oh yeah baby it’s finally happening! Oguri Shun is returning to J-doramas after dropping one of my favorite performances in 2012’s Rich Man Poor Woman for Fuji TV‘s Monday at 9 pm timeslot. This time he’s joining forces with TV AsahiĀ and is changing it up – Shun who goes from playing a socially awkward IT wunderkind to a cop who … Continue reading →
I’m a little disappointed Full Sun (Beyond the Clouds) won’t air next Monday on KBS. Having that time slot just vacated by Prime Minister and I remain dark for a week without a new K-drama feels as blah as the way my beloved PM signed off without any sizzle. On the upside, no drama production has ever complained about getting … Continue reading →
