Best episode of In A Good Way so far? Oh you betcha! To begin with, when the title song started playing I almost got teary-eyed from the undeniable realization that even with just one week off I missed In A Good Way so much. The entire cast of characters have become like friends I hang out with once a week. … Continue reading →
The C-netizens have spoken and the most buzzed about performance during the entire 4 hour long CCTV Lunar New Year Gala is by a fifteen year old girl who said not a word. She beat out Lee Min Ho by a huge margin and this time I totally get why. This year’s Gala was directed by movie director Feng Xiaogang, … Continue reading →
Awwww, Jeon Ji Hyun can sell me anything. Toss in Lee Jung Jae and I pretty much just throw money at them so I can continue to stare at their collective cuteness. SK Telecom has brought them together for a CF out this week for its LTE-A advanced wireless network. Below are a ton of endorsement stills along with the … Continue reading →
I’ve gotta give credit to Miss Korea for making winning the big kahuna of the beauty pageant merely the beginning for much more storytelling to come. This was a drama premised on winning Miss Korea 1997 but there wasn’t a moment after Ji Young won that I felt like the intensity deflated and we were left filling time with tying … Continue reading →
The main cast is complete for the C-drama Heirs (C-Heirs), which is NOT a remake of the Korean drama Heirs from last year but its own take on a bunch of emo heirs to billion dollar fortunes dealing with their pretty people angst. I enjoyed K-Heirs but the popularity of that drama is probably inversely proportional to the story actually … Continue reading →
Being disappointed with the process by which Prime Minister and I wrapped up doesn’t mean I’ve erased all my love for this drama. It probably just downgrades the feeling to like very much, which in the grander scheme of things is pretty hefty praise for it considering the dearth of solid rom-coms in years. I get the tendency to see … Continue reading →
Hollywood releases its big blockbusters during US holidays but in the Chinese-speaking countries their domestic movie releases follow a slightly different schedule. Lunar New Year is a major movie release period since all schools and jobs are off for weeks on end. The preference during that time to to release comedic movies since it’s a holiday meant to celebrate family … Continue reading →
Holy momma what did I just watch? Episode 15 of Miss Korea was an hour of sheer perfection. Complete and utter writing, acting, and directing mastery elevated to a new level of impact. It’s the opposite of watching a drama and going “that’s it?”, and instead my eyes kept getting wider and my heart kept accelerating as the episode barreled … Continue reading →
It’s understandable that Lego Lee is the breakout star of In A Good Way and has reaped the most attention from the cast of the drama. Who the heck doesn’t love Liu Chuan? It’s harder to write female leads and Kirsten Jen‘s Jia En has taken me awhile to fully embrace, and it’s also clear Kirsten needed a bit more time … Continue reading →
In a strange clarification by Chinese producer Li Shao Hong who has been getting lots of media attention for supposedly producing the Chinese drama version of the Korean hit drama Heirs, the drama started filming last week and it turns out NOT to be an adaptation of K-Heirs at all. Li Shao Hong finally put an end to the speculation … Continue reading →
I’m genuinely nervous about the upcoming two episodes of Miss Korea. That’s a good place to be in because it means this drama has really gotten to me. I’m not watching dispassionately like observing a particularly well-drawn painting. I feel like I’m one of leading lady Ji Young’s friends and family cheering section and personally sitting behind the computer but … Continue reading →
It’s emotionally exhausting watching dramas live. It’s like walking towards something with a leap of faith and no certainty for what awaits at the end. I can handle the weekly waits because patience can be an acquired virtue. What I will never ever be able to reconcile is the feeling of devastating disappointment that guts you like a child at … Continue reading →
Talk about putting the skeptics and naysayers to rest with one very heartwarming cross-straits trip. TW-actor Nicky Wu brought his C-actress girlfriend and frequent co-star Liu Shi Shi to Taiwan last week to spend Lunar New Year in his hometown. They visited his parents as well as spent time with people who are like an extended family to Nicky. Above … Continue reading →
