The entertainment world naturally has its bifurcated acting system. Movie stars rank highest on the totem pole while the drama/television stars don’t command nearly the same level of clout in the industry. Some straddle both worlds on a regular basis but when a A-list movie star heads back to television there is always the rubbernecking interest on whether the fame … Continue reading →
Does anyone else think Kwon Yul is reverse aging in Prime Minister and I? I already think Lee Bum Soo is the bees knees but in the last two episodes of PM he’s literally so smexy I wonder how Da Jung can keep her hands off her hubby. Forget giving him time to figure out his feelings, I’d just kiss … Continue reading →
I worship Miss Korea so damn hard! I’m starting to clear out emotional shelf space for this drama and the only minor blip is not enough people to squee and swoon over this wonderful sweet story. Episode 11 was SO FREAKING GOOD I was alternating between laughing until my belly hurt (I can never not laugh at the awesome bitch … Continue reading →
There is never a bad time for more In A Good Way, right? This drama is my little pick-me-up and each episode always provides a scene or three that I can re-watch over and over. One of my faves happens to be the Liu Chuan-Jia En Taipei motorcycle ride and subsequent Wu Bai and China Blue concert in episode 3, so … Continue reading →
It’s time for another new episode of Miss Korea and I’m so excited! I like to think that MBC‘s success with its far-out Empress Ki on Mon-Tues is allowing the network to bankroll the vastly underrated MK without cutting it short or decreeing “makjang twists for all” to try and revive its ratings. This is one drama that is nearly … Continue reading →
I really want to hug Prime Minister and I like it were the cutest little puppy in the world and I it’s lucky owner. Undeterred by low ratings this drama has continued to chart a true course towards honest falling in love between two people who are both brave and deserving of those syrupy happily ever after dreams in life. … Continue reading →
I’m always amused by the dating gossip coming out of Taiwan entertainment. There is a noticeable lack of fake pearl clutching that happens in Korea where even the suggestion of dating is called a “scandal”. Even when a celebrity couple is pretty much widely acknowledged as dating but refuse to publicly confirm it, their fans shrug and the media just … Continue reading →
Well look’s who’s back. The lovely Jang Ae Yun, who I thought was doing a cameo appearance in Prime Minister and I to play the no longer present wife of the Prime Minister, appears confirmed to return to the drama in episode 13. Let’s hope it’s a one episode gig even if she is still breathing, anything more and I’ll … Continue reading →
I have a mostly love relationship with Jang Geun Seok. Even his last few years of strange musical choices and a rather party heavy lifestyle has only rendered me disappointed that he’s not honing his acting craft and instead indulging his youthful predilections. Nothing wrong with that but without a great drama or character under his belt it’s hard to … Continue reading →
Let me preface by saying this episode recap of Prime Minister and I will by and large not jump the gun on the big pink elephant in the room, namely whether Yul’s ex-wife Na Young is alive and what her return might do to this story narrative. I’ll cross that bridge if and when she gets there because so far … Continue reading →
I think the phrase jumping the shark doesn’t apply here to what just happened in Empress Ki. Since this is a sageuk and we need a bigger creature to leap over, let’s just say Empress Ki jumped the Megalodon in today’s episode 23. It was a whole new level of absurdity that I couldn’t stop watching. That episode was fast … Continue reading →
Who’s having a birthday! Not so baby boy anymore Lego Lee is who! Smack in the middle of the hottest drama of his career in In A Good Way, Lego celebrated his 28th birthday on January 19th with 100 of his fans. He paid for the fan party himself and despite the 7000 fans who wanted to attend only 100 … Continue reading →
I’ve been enjoying a two-fer on Mon-Tues with the juicy love triangle sageuk Empress Ki and the satisfying contract marriage romance in Prime Minister and I. This Monday both dramas are bringing in some new faces that may shake things up. Or not, maybe it’s just to have a little fun and then swan off. The just released drama stills … Continue reading →
