Wowsers, what a difference a week and a drama can make. This development definitely deserves a post of its own. With Secret ending last week and the arrival of Pretty Boy (Bel Ami), the ratings was up for grabs today and Heirs/The Inheritors made out like a bandit. The drama started off around 10% in ratings and was increasingly little … Continue reading →
Best episode of Heirs/The Inheritors EVER! I can’t believe I stuck to this drama for 13-episodes, itself quite a feat of endurance, and am finally rewarded with an action-packed episode that was funny and fast-paced. I’m not kidding, this episode had me laughing out loud so many times I lost count. Stuff happens all over the place in each of … Continue reading →
Ha Ji Won may have phenomenal chemistry with every one of her male leads, but some pairings are better than others and I have my favorites. My personal top two are Jo In Sung in What Happened in Bali and Lee Seung Gi in The King 2 Hearts. But her coupling with Joo Jin Mo is fast rocketing up the … Continue reading →
Many thanks to the drama gods who heard my cries for actual mutual romantic action in Heirs/The Inheritors instead of staring, hang grabs, wrist pulls, silencing forced kisses, road blockage, and whatever else the writer wants to pass for romance and instead comes off mildly icky to mostly disturbing. Park Shin Hye has been getting a lot of flack for … Continue reading →
The was the best episode of Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) to date, followed by the wonderful subway fire episode that brought the OTP past one hurdle only to later come up against a wall. This one showed us that the wall might really be there for a valid reason, but then also confirms that our four leads … Continue reading →
I have to confess I almost dropped Empress Ki about 10 minutes into episode 1. It happened at the scene where second male lead Ji Chang Wook as the Yuan Emperor Huizhong (nee Ta Hwan) whined like an insecure kid towards Joo Jin Mo as the Goryeo King Wang Yoo about whether Wang Yoo still loves Seung Nyang played by … Continue reading →
We’ve arrived at yet another premiere week in K-drama land, and this one comes courtesy of Pretty Boy (Bel Ami) taking over the time slot vacated by Secret on KBS Wed-Thurs. Starring Jang Geun Seok, IU, Lee Jang Woo, and Han Chae Young, I’m approaching this one with a dash of hesitation but an open mind since I’ve a fondness … Continue reading →
Grahhhhh, Marry Him if You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) continues to be so infuriating. There remains a sliver of hope this thing will all come together soon, which keeps me from breaking up with it, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to hurl plates at the screen when I watched episode 11. This drama proves that a story cannot be … Continue reading →
I’ve always known that the two male leads Lee Dong Gun and Jung Yong Hwa in Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) belonged to the same agency FNC Entertainment. Yong Hwa joined first as part of the idol band CNBlue, whereas Dong Gun joined the agency after he was discharged from the army. FNC is primarily a music agency … Continue reading →
Last week C-ent was rocking and rolling with dating, engagement, and wedding news. Everywhere you turn couples were outing themselves or showing their love to the world (slang for such behavior is “sunning their syrupy love”). So it’s rather apropos that in this current environment of stars in love that triple talented singer-rapper-actor Vanness Wu finally tied the knot this weekend … Continue reading →
This drama has been done filming since last year and I dang forgot it hasn’t aired until now. I rather like letting upcoming dramas slip since I’m not anxiously waiting for it. The modern Tong Hua novel Secrets Hidden in Time (被時光掩埋的秘密 which I unabashedly shortened to SHiT) has been remade into the C-drama titled Best Time (最美的时光) starring Janine … Continue reading →
Judging drama posters before the drama airs is much like judging a book by the cover. It’s simply the superficial glossing but still eligible to be critiqued on its own since it’s one element of the entire drama package. Bad drama posters won’t mean anything if the drama turns out to be good (see Scandal: That Very Shocking and Immoral … Continue reading →
I’m happy to be enjoying Heirs/The Inheritors with no expectations of quality or consistency. After a rather unexpected solid episode 12, I didn’t dare to hope episode 13 would take the narrative further. If Tan outed his own bastard status, he’s clearly trying to upend the entire chess game of his life, but would the drama tell us that the … Continue reading →
