I’ve written so many recaps I’ve lost count, but to date I’ve only managed to translate one entire Chinese novel from beginning to end, which is a feat I doubt I will ever replicate. It requires time and love, and I’ve had neither these days, and if I did I would finish plugging in the missing chapters in my Yun … Continue reading →
If Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) doesn’t right the sinking narrative ship, this drama might turn out to be the biggest disappointment of the year. I love three out of the four leads, the screenwriter helmed my favorite K-drama last year, and the directing hasn’t done anything before I thought wasn’t visually pleasing. Rounding the corner at the … Continue reading →
So I complimented Heirs/The Inheritors for actually having some compelling forward momentum in yesterday’s episode 9, and then episode 10 promptly returned to form and was lackluster all around again. What gives? I am so confused and not in a good way where there is too much to sort there. Everything is so linear in this drama, where people talk … Continue reading →
It’s a testament to Yoon Eun Hye‘s popularity and trendsetting ways that her decision to fry-perm her hair for her role in Marry Him If You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) garnered such commentary and backlash. I’m one to skip a drama if I don’t like the way an actor or actress looks to the extent it bugs me. It’s a personal choice … Continue reading →
I don’t know if Heirs/The Inheritors needed a literal fist fight to jump start the energy levels, but it sure went a long way in doing that. There is no more intensity to milk in all the stare down your enemy if there are no further stakes? Tan is right when he says Young Do will never reveal his trump … Continue reading →
This was easily the best episode of Heirs/The Inheritors to date. That’s not saying much since the first third have been so underwhelming, and truthfully getting good at episode 9 is much too late. I’m relieved since I’ve decided to stick with it, and it’s getting good in ways that I can finally connect with and get behind. This episode … Continue reading →
It’s the rare Taiwan idol drama that doesn’t end in a wedding. I don’t mean just having a happily ever after, TW-dramas are awesome in always wrapping it up in a big bow in the form of a wedding. It might sound trite but goodness these dramas are always the exact same thing just repackaged differently so why bother even … Continue reading →
It’s understandable that the upcoming KBS Wed-Thurs drama Pretty Boy is getting the most attention for being a Jang Geun Seok drama, but I think the two leading ladies have to hold their own otherwise this thing will collapse on the weight of some mighty narcissism. A bunch of new stills have been released along with confirmation that the drama … Continue reading →
Looks like the drama fan interest in new couple Moon Geun Young and Kim Bum extend far beyond the Korean domestic audience. The first pictures of them snapped in Europe were by Korean tourists, but this latest pic comes courtesy of the Chinese fans since it was uploaded to Weibo first and then hit both Kim Bum and Moon Geun … Continue reading →
There are two sets of Hong Sisters in K-drama writing teams, the more famous pair does the trendy dramas like The Master’s Sun, You’re Beautiful, and My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, while the less splashy pair did more serious work with Beethoven Virus and The King 2 Hearts. It’s one-half of the latter Hong Sisters duo that is writing Marry … Continue reading →
Two upcoming K-dramas started filming recently and I’ve decided to lump them in the same post because my excitement over both is pretty much at the same level. Excited but cautiously optimistic. Fans of stars in either drama needn’t fret I’ll split the love, the SBS drama You From Another Star airs on Wed-Thurs after Heirs, while the KBS drama Prime … Continue reading →
Since news broke of recent drama co-stars Kim Bum and Moon Geun Young diving into a real life relationship and off on an European vacation, there seems to be an APB (or AKB All Koala Bulletin) put out on them. Dispatch delivered the first very grainy pictures of two people that purported to be GeunBum, but one was of their … Continue reading →
Episode 7 of Marry Him if You Dare (Mirae’s Choice) succeeded in opening up a whole new can of worms. There is no end to future Mi Rae’s meddling, and when it appears present Mi Rae isn’t going to follow her game plan, she turns her machinations on Yoo Kyung and Shin. This drama has turned out to be much … Continue reading →
