I have this weird problem in that I’m severely allergic to Roy Qiu‘s C-dramas but I love the man to pieces. It’s like loving chocolate but eating it makes one break out in hives. Ottoke? It was fine and dandy when he was back in Taiwan these past two years doing TW-dramas. I loved Office Girls despite its slowdown towards … Continue reading →
I’m loving Flower Boy Next Door to pieces but it’s not a drama that leads me to claim perfection is in the making. It’s got too many side characters that serve a purpose rather than feel real and well-developed (Tae Joon, Seo Young, Watanabe) while others are slowly getting fleshed out but not in a way that piques my interest … Continue reading →
So this really is happening. Kim Tae Hee is indeed starring in her first sageuk, as the titular Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love, with her love interest the historical figure King Sukjong played by Yoo Ah In. The cast held the script reading session this week and the first peek at the two leads sitting side-by-side have been released. … Continue reading →
The lines between different entertainment industries continue to be blurred, in ways that sometimes leaves me scratching my head. I don’t watch variety shows but the popularity of We Got Married has led me to at least understand the concept and have heard of famous couplings in the past. After many seasons on air I figure the show must be … Continue reading →
If there is a drama to beat in 2013 in terms of ratings, everyone ought to be gunning for My Daughter Seo Young. Yes, it’s a weekend drama and those tend to do better in ratings these days (though not by much), But last year saw some high-profile weekend dramas such as Five Fingers tank in ratings, and even May … Continue reading →
It’s with a disappointed heart that I bring confirmation that City Conquest won’t be conquering anything after all. The dark K-drama adapted from a manhwa starring Kim Hyun Joong, Jung Yumi, and Namgong Min was definitively axed by KBS after the tumultuous last month when the drama replaced most of its production team and did tweaks per KBS requests. The reason … Continue reading →
The first two thoughts to pop into my head when I saw the press conference for the upcoming K-melodrama That Winter, The Wind Blows is this: (1) Damn is Kim Bum FINE!, and (2) Good lord what the what is Jo In Sung wearing?! This press conference was a mixed bag but overall not bad. Song Hye Kyo and Jung … Continue reading →
I love it when my casting rumors turn out to be true, especially when its a pairing that is different and intriguing. I posted about IU and Jo Jung Seok being wooed for the leads of the upcoming weekend drama The Best Lee Soon Shin over a month ago and everyone got all excited despite it being merely a possibility. … Continue reading →
Hurray for a great press conference finally arriving to bring some eye candy and fun to the proceedings. While the drama itself remains an unknown, Advertising Genius Lee Tae Baek sure has its affairs in order in terms of doing all the right things in promoting the drama. First came a fun painting teaser with the four leads running wild … Continue reading →
OMG, I seriously got misty-eyed watching this happen finally. Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Zhu, and Vanness Wu arrived in Beijing over this week and headed straight to the stage for dress rehearsals prior to recording of the upcoming Jiang Su STV Lunar New Year extravaganza celebration. Their star power has only increased in the 5 years since they last … Continue reading →
Wassup Jun Ki! Actually, he’s been up to quite a lot since he wrapped the fantasy sageuk Arang and the Magistrate back in August of 2012. Lee Jun Ki is one of the few double threats in Korean entertainment – a fantastic musical performer and a legit acting heavy hitter. I didn’t love Arang as much as I thought I … Continue reading →
If Cheongdamdong Alice attempted to explore the futility of the have-nots and the luck of the haves when it comes to the pursuit of money, its follow up drama appears to take it one step further. Or perhaps its simply more straightforward in its thematic narrative – The Incarnation of Money is clearly going to be driven by money money … Continue reading →
I love this drama. I love this drama so damn much! Flower Boy Next Door is that perfect slice of cake that I just want to savor and hoard. It’s exactly what I crave right now to bring the magic back to drama watching. Yes, it could falter or even collapse in the second half, but for now I enjoy … Continue reading →
