Binnie is back (not to be confused with Baby’s got back)! Clearly his fans number in the crazy digits and are super supportive because the group formed before dawn outside the marine base headquarters where marine service member Kim Tae Pyung was about to be released back to their collective fangirl hearts. When Hyun Bin was officially discharged, with a … Continue reading →
Yes, I am the drama fairy. I don’t give out quarters for lost teeth, I give out rom-com happy flower boy (and pretty girl) goodies for K-drama addicts tired of the Winter gloom and the melodrama glut. You want some cuteness? Well here’s your cuteness! tvN released official stills of the cast of Flower Boy Next Door from the filming … Continue reading →
At this point, Lee Soo Yeon is the only main character I like wholeheartedly in Missing You. I love her ability to survive, even if she has chosen not to confront her past but to etch out a new future and she’ll eventually have to revisit her untreated scars. I applaud her desire to take out her anger at Jung … Continue reading →
Finally! Miss Screw can finally get married now, and hopefully this means Miss Rose can stop dithering and end on a high note to wrap up what was a truly enjoyable ride until recently. With SETTV wanting Sonia Sui to return to dramas with the MR follow up drama Replacement Princess, the network had to scramble when Sonia declined the … Continue reading →
Who is coming back tomorrow? Can I have a “booyah” from y’all as we start chanting “Binnie! Binnie! Binnie!” After 22 months of military service, Hyun Bin returns on December 6th from being an active duty marine in the Korean armed forces to the life of an actor and entertainer. His agent has confirmed that he has been fielding scripts … Continue reading →
What is this? How the heck did Yoo Seung Ho find time in the midst of harried live shooting Missing You to jet off to Japan for a fan meeting? Couldn’t it wait until after the drama wrapped? Come to think of it, the fan meeting was scheduled already, which makes sense since MBC did needle Yoo Seung Ho to … Continue reading →
Okay, here’s the drill. If tvN somehow fucks up a perfect cast and an adorable story and Flower Boy Next Door ends up sucking for whatever reason, I will be so inconsolable a support group might be needed to as therapy to deal with my disappointment. At this point, there is nothing I can do to lower my expectations to … Continue reading →
I feel like I’ve fallen into a twilight zone and I can’t get out. In that weird place, a bunch of folks are cosplaying characters in the classic epic wuxia novel Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils by Louis Cha. Wallace Chung, having made a name for himself playing wimpy or douchey or emo wuxia heroes, has decided to wig out and don … Continue reading →
In an attempt to procrastinate starting my year end reviews, I started wasting time pondering random thoughts concerning the 2012 K-drama landscape. Aside from good and bad dramas, I realized I could actually pinpoint the breakouts of this year (and the un-breakouts, those who were flying high only to hit a dud this year), which actually were quite a few. … Continue reading →
Horikita Maki is one of my favorite J-actresses but I don’t post about her much since she hasn’t done a J-dorama I’ve liked in years. Her last dorama I watched all the way through was Atashinchi no Danshi back in 2009, and only because it had so many hot guys in it (Mukai Osamu, Kaname Jun, Yamamoto Yusuke) because otherwise … Continue reading →
Why does Jung Woo keep getting all grabbity with Soo Yeon? Seriously writer? Why the need to make him so physically aggressive towards her? I think one huge problem I have with this drama is that it insists on making Jung Woo the POV character when really it ought to be Soo Yeon. Sigh. I just watched the preview for … Continue reading →
Wow, that a difference a day and an episode can make. I freaking loved episode 2 of Cheongdamdong Alice! Woo hoo, this is more like it. It still has some awkwardness and needs more narrative clarity, but all the interwoven threads are set in place and there are lots of understandable stakes everywhere. Two episodes in and I can safely … Continue reading →
I’m sorry to have to do this but I’m officially dropping my Miss Rose recaps. I’m planning to keep watching and will bring the previews every week, but I don’t have the desire to recap the episodes anymore since one-half of the OTP has completely and utterly lost me. I have no idea what the writers are thinking in slowly … Continue reading →
