The collective shrieking from poor put upon Joo Won fangirls leaves me both amused and sympathetic to their plight. Upon hearing that their beloved Joo Won might be paired up with a much older actress in Choi Kang Hee for the upcoming drama The Secret Lovers, the amount of anger and weeping might lead one to suppose everyone found out … Continue reading →
While Joe Cheng was off busting illicit tax-evading tobacco smuggling rings, his entertainment colleague and fellow Taiwan armed service member Ming Dao was doing something a bit more in line with his day job. Ming Dao enlisted about 7 months ago in mid-February for his mandatory military service and was assigned to the army. He joined the Army Honor Guard … Continue reading →
Okay, who switched out corporate raider Gao Cheng Kuan and frumpy secretary Luo Si Yi for the alterna-verse biker versions of them? Not complaining, just totally chuckling here at how cute the Miss Rose OTP look when completely out-of-character. Truth be told, Cheng Kuan can’t just be working all day long and his only hobby drinking wine with Sheng Jun, … Continue reading →
Now that 2012 is heading towards the end, there are really no more K-dramas left to premiere that haven’t been cast yet. Which leaves me looking into 2013 and oh boy it’s shaping up to be a doozy. First off comes the producers behind Giant and History of the Salaryman, truly talented subversive geniuses in my book, and they are … Continue reading →
The first teaser is out for Missing You, which makes sense since Arang and the Magistrate ended today though the drama won’t premiere for another two weeks. Still, it’s nice to get an inkling as to what to expect. Can I sound like a crazy Koala broken record and remind the producers that there is still no second male lead … Continue reading →
Episode 12 of Nice Guy remained as fabulous as always, like a fashionista with innate good taste and can rock the scene whether dressing up, down or a bit out there. We get tons of forward movement on all fronts, all the while allowing the characters to breathe a bit and reveal some great delicious nuggets of motivation and suspicion. … Continue reading →
Cha Seung Won radiates confidence. He radiates confidence whether he’s dressed or topless, because he knows he looks good either way. He’s like a potato, delicious baked or fried. For L’Officiel Hommes, the magazine decided to give us Cha Seung Won served both ways. I’ll put the clothed version first and hide the muscly one after the jump, because this … Continue reading →
Do you want to kill me, drama? Do you want to kill me from the excess of feelings? Oh the feelings, it just rolls over me in waves and waves anytime I see a glimmer of happiness with Eun Gi and Maru. Seeing them not only happy, but happy together, that sends me into the throes of giddiness the likes of … Continue reading →
Okay, I can probably die happy now if a giant meteor slammed into Earth tomorrow morning and we are all toast. I’m sure that’s a gross exaggeration, but I’m nowhere near capturing the happiness of seeing the latest official stills and more from Nice Guy episode 12, which is clearly a flashback to the missing period during the time jump … Continue reading →
Nice Guy, I love you. You are unbelievably, incredibly, satisfyingly awesome. If you keep getting more awesome, other dramas might commit seppuku for the shame of paling in comparison. You take a tired old trope like amnesia and actually use the tabula rasa to fascinating advantage. I bow to your greatness and revel in your continued excellent directing prowess. Last … Continue reading →
It’s official, Joe Cheng just PWNED all celebrities doing their mandatory military service. This is especially true of his BFFs Ethan Ruan, also currently serving but assigned to a desk job in Taipei, and Mike He, who is like pushing the age limit by days and still hasn’t enlisted yet. Joe enlisted 2 months ago and after completing his basic … Continue reading →
Yay, hooray, today is Nice Guy day! The wait from the spine-tingling ending of episode 10 until now ought to have been interminable for me but luckily I had other things to distract me in the interim. But now that NG is right around the corner again, I’m getting that engines revving up sensation in my spine waiting to see … Continue reading →
I’m not quite sure how to recommend Miss Rose to folks, because it either gets you right there in the gut and you love it, or it’s just an easy on the eyes nicely paced drama that won’t linger in the mind or heart after it’s done. I find the drama brimming with wonderful touches and stunningly restrained in its … Continue reading →
