It’s no secret I adore Seo Ji Seok. The only reason he’s not more prevalent all over the Playground is due to his predilection for picking projects that either majorly suck (Manny) or are a variety I don’t watch (the sitcom High Kick 3). I’ve resorted to rewatching Gloria or OBGYN to get my Seo Ji Seok fix. He’s not … Continue reading →
Ethan Ruan is three months into his year long mandatory service duty and he’s finished up the one month new soldier orientation training and switched into his post. Because he’s flat footed, he won’t be doing active duty and is instead serving in the Ministry of Education office in Taipei. He’s working on public education campaigns and even uses his … Continue reading →
While discussing the characterization of the yangban du jour Kim Boong Do got me thinking of the perfect yangban to end all perfect yangban’s Park Kyu, which of course led to a desire to rewatch Tamra the Island, and then segued into missing Im Joo Hwan who is in the army, and finally a reminder that my beloved Kim Ji … Continue reading →
After being rumored to join the cast for the past few weeks, today Park Shi Yeon‘s agency announced that she has agreed to star in the drama Nice Guy with Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won. It’s pretty much a love triangle between Joong Ki and his two leading ladies, so let’s not pretend we even care who the … Continue reading →
I suspect Queen In Hyun’s Man knows voodoo. It’s found a way to distract me and fry my brain so I don’t care much to parse the details to see if it makes sense. It happened with all the hot kissing at the end of episode 11, and continues onward by having Ji Hyun Woo wear a white shirt and … Continue reading →
I like I Do I Do so much. Episode 2 lost a bit of its earlier J-dorama vibe as the drama heads towards a conventional K-drama rom-com direction, but it retains its mellowness that is addicting to watch. This story is low on the hysteria yet manages to capture all the emotional nuances wonderfully. This is clearly the Kim Sun … Continue reading →
Sometimes I feel like Moon Geun Young is a Summer storm. She pops up suddenly, does her thang, and then disappears without a trace. It’s been a ridiculously long year and a half since she’s done an acting project, and even her endorsement deals are far between. She came back recently as the face of Vita Energy, and I swear … Continue reading →
I know something is even better than my first impression of it when it beckons me for a rewatch. When I watched episode 1 of I Do I Do again, I liked it even more to the extent I felt compelled to scribble down a recap. Don’t take this as a promise I’m recapping this series, but merely that this … Continue reading →
In yet another round of “Which Drama Wins the Time Slot”, the three new horses took off at a mild trot if the ratings for the first episode are any indication. KBS wins the first round as its Bridal Mask with Joo Won garnered a 12.7% ratings on AGB, following by MBC’s I Do I Do with Kim Sun Ah … Continue reading →
Yay for a return to narrative momentum, as episode 13 of Queen In Hyun’s Man finally ties together Boong Do’s time traveling talisman with a boatload of things that could potentially turn out wrong back in Joseon. As Uncle Ben would say, with great power comes great responsibility, right? I say it’s more like with great power comes great consequences, … Continue reading →
Nicky Wu is currently busy filming the wuxia drama Bride with White Hair (which currently looks like a big ole hot mess judging from the first stills and posters I’ve seen), but he continues to deliver really cool and innovative magazine spreads from time to time. The most recent one is titled “Breakthrough” and is a series of split images … Continue reading →
Lee Seung Gi literally rolls from the fire into the flame, wrapping up The King 2 Hearts last week while he’s headed to Tokyo for his concert at Budokan scheduled for June 1st. It’s quite a feat for any solo singer to perform at Budokan (next step is always Tokyo Dome), much less a Korean musician. I’m so proud of … Continue reading →
Sorry if it appeared I’ve suddenly leapt off the Queen In Hyun’s Man runaway train what with the radio silence in the last few days. I was vacationing and for some reason I wasn’t in a rush to watch episode 12. Despite loving episode 11 when I watched it, something felt off afterwards. After I watched episode 12, I finally … Continue reading →
