It’s been awhile since I’ve updated my Ultimate Bromance series, documenting the real life best friends forever friendships in the entertainment industry. To find previous posts, click on the bromance tag below. Today’s update is in honor of an interview Jung Il Woo gave from the set of his latest drama 49 Days. When asked which three friends would cry … Continue reading →
I am so so behind on K-drama watching, having pretty much only followed 49 Days for the past few weeks. I’ve dropped Midas and The Duo for now, and my goal is to finish the brilliant President this weekend and finally crown it the best K-drama of 2011 (so far). I know folks have asked me to pick up New … Continue reading →
Fashion is always a season ahead, so the casual preppy clothing brand Mind Bridge just released the preview stills of its Summer 2011 collection this week. I’m not quite sure why MindBridge decided to have its two beautiful spokespersons Gong Yoo and Lee Min Jung repeat the exact same poses and camera angles from their last photospread from the previous … Continue reading →
Anhui Television announced today that the third drama in its Happy Trilogy (the first being Happy and Love Forever, and the second being Sunny Happiness) has finally cast its two leads. All I know is that my rumor sources are dead on this time, the leads for the tentatively titled Happy Michelin Kitchen (幸福三顆星) is in fact Cheryl Yang and Blue Lan. … Continue reading →
I don’t know what it is about Extravagant Challenge, but I find myself strangely protective of it. Perhaps it’s because the drama was originally slated to headline Ariel Lin (my fave TW-actress), and then went through two years of development hell before it was finally greenlit. But by then Ariel had left and Ivy Chen stepped in, a switch I … Continue reading →
Lotte Duty Free added some fresh new faces to its already bulging line-up of spokespersons. Supposedly the concept is to add new Hallyu to the existing Hallyu stars, but I’m not quite sure if being selected is an honor since collectively these are the worst ads I have seen in ages. Everyone looks dull and posed, and some actually look … Continue reading →
I think the mysteries in 49 Days are not all that interesting, such as why Min Ho and In Jung want to swindle Ji Hyun’s family, what Scheduler and Yi Kyung’s relationship is, why Kang is so affected by Ji Hyun. I find the inter-relationships and interactions much more compelling – less talk about the why, and more feeling about … Continue reading →
The indie band Walrus, fronted by actor-indie musician Kim Jae Wook, went to Hong Kong this week for a fan meeting and to promote their album. The Hong Kong fans were able to sing happy birthday (in Korean) for Kim Jae Wook, and the band gave a series of interviews for magazines and newspapers.
Continue reading →Upcoming Wed-Thurs K-dramas Romance Town (KBS) and Best Love (MBC) both released the first official stills from its filming yesterday. The competition is going to be fierce come May (with the third competitor being City Hunter on SBS). My only impression of the stills is that the Sung Yuri and Gong Hyo Jin appear to be sporting the exact same … Continue reading →
SETTV is finally dropping the motherlode of trailers and teaser for its upcoming Sunday night TW-drama Drunken to Love You. The more I see of this drama the more I want to watch it. While it don’t think it can get close to the incredible ratings Fated to Love You garnered (which I attribute to the breakout of Ethan Ruan … Continue reading →
I can’t believe that 49 Days is close to the halfway mark today (its set for 20 episodes), partly because so little substantive plot has happened, and partly because it felt like an interminable slog for me to wade through 8 episodes of mostly boring and repetitive moments for a few striking scenes. There is a possibility that this may … Continue reading →
It’s been a slow news cycle in terms of me covering Joe Cheng, since Joe’s currently airing TW-drama Channel X is a giant stinker that for the love of Joe I watch week to week and then go rinse my eyes out in saltwater afterwards. Thankfully Channel Crap is ending soon (to be followed by Drunken to Love You), and … Continue reading →
Okay, that is one gorgeous collector’s edition boxset up there. I’m so glad I’ve got one reserved under my name. *is happy* The picture above is a sneak peak at the soon-to-be-released Mary Stayed Out All Night Collector’s Edition Uncut DVD set, completed with 7 hours of behind-the-scenes footage and unaired scenes, and tons of other goodies. To be honest, … Continue reading →
