Folks have been talking about so and so in Playful Kiss resembling someone else. While Jung So Min and Kim Hyun Joong are unique and I adore them as they are, it’s still fun to play around with doppelganger theories. I contend that college-era Ha Ni and Seung Jo are so similar to Naoki and Riko in Buzzer Beat it’s … Continue reading →
I found episode 11 of Playful Kiss (Mischievous Kiss) to be yet another good episode. Riding on the wave where episode 10 left off, it pulls the viewers back into the ebbs and flows of Ha Ni and Seung Jo’s indefinable relationship. This episode had interesting plot developments, some laugh out loud moments, and the arrival of kiss #2.
Continue reading →This preview sure made us wait a heck-of-a-long time before it dropped, didn’t it? Rather like Seung Jo making Ha Ni wait forever and a day for him to show any real affection. But it’s coming, folks. So let’s be patient and keep on enjoying the cute in Playful Kiss.

Instead of toiling away this afternoon, I took a long short break that somehow ended with me finally watching the 2008 movie adapation of the legend of Liang Zhu, also known as The Butterfly Lovers (武俠梁祝). I think it was a Zhong Wu Yen tangent actually, … Continue reading →
One of the more higher profile Taiwan dramas of 2010 has passed the mid-way mark in its airing. Zhong Wu Yen aired episode 11 yesterday, and whether the drama ends up being 14, 17, or 21 episodes (TW dramas lengths are notoriously hard to pinpoint), it has aired more than enough for me to make a substantive assessment of its … Continue reading →
I watched the first two episodes of Flames of Desire this weekend, and I walked away feeling slightly light-headed and dizzy from all the intensity. As expected, the drama is not for the faint-of-heart. It’s makjang to to the core, and makes no concessions to the milk of human kindness. It’s dark, it’s destructive, it’s mesmerizing. In short, I just … Continue reading →
I’m back with more fan service for anyone looking to oogle real manly men and not just pretty boys, which I have no problem doing myself on occasion. I’ve found the full Sky Vega CFs for Jung Woo Sung and Cha Seung Won. Apparently the earlier ones I posted last month were like teaser CFs or some such.
Continue reading →Until today, when all the news outlets released confirming reports, did I dare to release that long pent-up breath. The upcoming SBS weekend drama Secret Garden just commenced filming. Whether a single reel has been shot, or the leads Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won merely attended script-reading sessions with the rest of the cast and crew, at least I … Continue reading →
There has been a trickle of Athena promotional information after the deluge back in August and early September. Other than leading man Cha Seung Won being back in Korea recovering from surgery after illness, co-leading man Jung Woo Sung has been in Beijing this week for Reign of Assassins promotional activities. The movie premiered this week in Beijing, and goes … Continue reading →
Flames of Desire held its press conference earlier this week, and the drama is premiering tomorrow on MBC. I’ve been busy with, oh, writing Play Kiss recaps (heh) and haven’t gotten around to posting more about this drama, which my drama chingu Dangermousie so lovingly refers to Flames of Jailbait. Oh lord, this renaming was about as funny as another … Continue reading →
When I watched previous incarnations of Itazura na Kiss, I never really felt that Kotoko/Xiang Qin had any distinctive qualities, except for an insane level of obsession with Naoki/Zhi Shu, and a willingness to do anything for/because of him. Watching Playful Kiss (Mischievous Kiss) episode 10, I finally discovered a deeper understanding of the central relationship in this story. Rather … Continue reading →
The wait between episode 8 and 9 felt extraordinarily long, likely caused by the previous episode ending on an adrenaline pumping note. Episode 9 of Playful Kiss (Mischievous Kiss) continues to take purposeful strides forward in the lives of Seung Jo and Ha Ni, both as individuals and as a couple-in-the-making.
Continue reading →Can you feel the heat? Oh, it’s getting hot in here. A second teaser trailer has just been released for the upcoming MBC mega-weekend drama Flames of Desire.
