Now this is more like it! The opening night red carpet of the 2019 Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) really delivered the wow factor with many famous names and faces showing up to support the local film industry. The big pairing to walk the red carpet together was Jung Woo Sung and Honey Lee looking impeccable in the respective black … Continue reading →
It’s October, yay, which means it really does feel like fall and I’m ready for something new again. The change of pace catching my eye is Catch the Ghost on tvN, doing the police procedural but without the politics and darkness. Instead the darkness comes from the subway tunnels where the metro squad keeps law and order, and does so … Continue reading →
I skipped Yoon Shi Yoon‘s last drama Nokdu Flower because I wasn’t in the mood for something so patriotic and serious plus he played the antagonist which is great for acting development but hard to watch since he’s such a baby-faced cutie pie in my eyes. But I’m planning to watch his upcoming tvN drama Psychopath Diary even though he … Continue reading →
I wonder if these three wonder babies of pretty are so exhausted from filming the jTBC sageuk My Country that they woke up late for the drama press conference hence pulled random items from their closet. How else to explain the collective awful sartorial looks at the media event, complete with ill-fitting suits for the men and an eyesore of … Continue reading →
I found the nominees released last week for the 2019 Korean Drama Awards already super meh and now the winners mostly meh as well. The only worthwhile wins went to veteran leading man Choi Soo Jong for SBS hit weekend drama My One and Only taking home the Daesang Award and to ratings smashing cable drama Sky Castle in winning … Continue reading →
The weather is finally changing into fall where I live and I can’t wait for the chill to bring a new vibe to daily life. Fashion-wise the magazines have been all about fall for two months now and the latest is K-actor Seo Kang Joon for W Korea looking so intense and confident. He just finished police procedural Watcher and … Continue reading →
K-actor Lee Min Ho‘s military service for the last two years was low key and so has his return the last few months. He didn’t dive right into an acting project and only has started filming for his upcoming high profile 2020 drama The King: Eternal Sovereign costarring Kim Go Eun and penned by ratings queen screenwriter Kim Eun Sook. … Continue reading →
I haven’t followed a Mon-Tues K-drama in months and the wait has been worth it to find a drama worth my commitment again. KBS dropped the youth sageuk The Tale of Nokdu this week and it’s as entertaining and charming as the previews suggested. Leads Jang Dong Yoon and Kim So Hyun are perfectly cast in their respective roles and … Continue reading →
I think context does matter here, both for C-actress Liu Shi Shi herself and the general bounce back of actresses in general after having a baby. Liu Shi Shi was seen at the airport this week and it made the news since it was the first time she was seen in public since having a baby four months ago with … Continue reading →
It’s enlistment time for Lee Hong Ki and better to get that head shaved and basic training done with before winter rolls around and the chill descends. Lee Hong Ki is one of the late to enlist ones but has managed to churn out plenty of music, variety, and acting projects under his belt in recent years so that he’s … Continue reading →
If there is a any fictional reason for a man to go live in a widows village in the Joseon era, the more unbelievable part is that he would pass for a woman simply by disguise. But seeing Jang Dong Yoon in upcoming KBS sageuk The Tale of Nokdu go from warrior to woman had made me believe the impossible, … Continue reading →
Sorry this post is a few months late but I didn’t have the chance to watch it in the Japan theaters and only caught it last week on a long trans-Pacific flight but holy schmoly was it hella entertaining. I’m talking about Kingdom, not the Korean drama with zombies but the Japanese popular shonen manga of the same name adapted … Continue reading →
I’m gradually forgotten K-actor Kang Ji Hwan even existed, seriously making the effort to erase his works and existence so to move on and not feel even slightly ambivalent about his onscreen performance versus real life current criminal incarceration pending trial for sexually assaulting two women while claiming to be so drunk. It helps that he’s not in the news … Continue reading →
