In the annals of dubious K-drama castings choice this could be one of them. Idol-actress Seolhyun of AOA has been offered the female lead role in upcoming sageuk drama My Country starring Yang Se Jong and Woo Do Hwan. Her last drama was Orange Marmalade in 2015 and she was pretty meh, not awful like some other idol-actresses but legit … Continue reading →
Korean tabloid Dispatch has dropped so many January 1 dating reveals complete with surveillance pictures this year feels like a given and the reaction from the fans of the two stars in question seem so muted and mature. This year’s couple as the first confirmed K-star dating news of 2019 is Blackpink‘s Jennie and EXO‘s Kai, an idol pairing and … Continue reading →
The buzziest drama to end 2018 is hands down jTBC Fri-Sat series Sky Castle with raves about the story line and acting, so the drama to take over will be in a prime spot to pick up the tailwind. The network has lined up the K-drama adaptation of hit J-dorama Legal High, so popular it had a season 2 which … Continue reading →
I only watched a few J-doramas this year in 2018 but most of the ones I did made the top 10 list of most highly rated J-doramas on China’s massive Douban platform. With hundreds of thousands of votes, forensic medical dorama Unnatural took top ranking for this year and I totally agree because I was thoroughly addicted. Also on the … Continue reading →
Currently I’m two-for-two in terms of highly anticipated dramas panning out in terms of quality and interest, with both Encounter (Boyfriend) and Memories of Alhambra floating my boat majorly. With these just released 1-minute long teaser for mid-2019 K-drama Vagabond with Lee Seung Gi and Suzy, I’m raised my hopes that it will be a three-for-three soon because this looks … Continue reading →
The latest episode 10 of Memories of Alhambra hit its highest ratings ever with 9.207% and its weekly buzz ratings also jumped to right below Sky Castle so it’s the perfect time for the cast to celebrate with the drama wrap party. The drama started filming in the summer with an extended location shoot in Spain covering scenes from the … Continue reading →
MBC got a head start on its year end drama awards, holding the 2018 shindig on December 30th to cap out a relatively lackluster ratings and hit year for the network. Probably the most prominent hit was Wed-Thurs drama Terius Behind Me (My Secret Terius) with So Ji Sub so it’s no surprise the actor was award the Daesang (Grand … Continue reading →
The first thing that came to mind when I heard this news is what scandal is going on in Korean politics for the timing of this news, lol. Variety show superstar and actor Kwang Soo is confirmed to be dating actress Lee Sun Bin after the two met on his long running hit variety program Running Man when she guested. … Continue reading →
The upcoming tvN drama Romance is a Bonus Book has a potential to be a total bibliophile’s wet dream. The first teaser certainly gave me shivers for how it lovingly frames the traditional booking binding with needle, thread, and press. Narrated by male lead Lee Jong Seok, thank god he has a good voice to match the dreamy book lover … Continue reading →
Episode 9 of Memories of Alhambra is officially supreme DAEBAK! Like, this is what I was waiting for and wanted from this drama and it’s here and every moment of Jin Woo playing the life-and-death AR game is tense and gripping. It doesn’t even matter anymore that the romance element with Hee Joo is nonexistent and their interactions are the … Continue reading →
This year in 2018 there were plenty of surprises in C-dramas from what ended up being a hit to the big budget disappointments. Looking forward to 2019 I’m only tangentially eyeing what’s on the slate but one that interests me is solely because I love the female lead Ariel Lin. It’s her first period drama in five years since Prince … Continue reading →
K-actor Joo Ji Hoon doesn’t get as much drama recognition in 2018 among the viewers but from the film side he was involved in the three highest grossing Korean movies of the last twelve months. The two fun and fantastical Along With the Gods movies and The Spy Gone North, and sure he was playing supporting roles to A-listers like … Continue reading →
For those who haven’t watched tvN romance drama Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter (Tale of the Gyeryong Fairy) and don’t want to spoiled then stop now. I don’t mind being spoiled and actually watched the first two episodes of Mama Fairy before dropping it because it just didn’t hook me. Female lead Moon Chae Won was adorable as the fairy … Continue reading →
