The dichotomy of W: Two Worlds wasn’t just in the parallel universes within the narrative scope, one real and the other manhwa, it’s also in how I feel about it. I loved the parts that worked and was infuriated with the flaws that faltered, and neither the twain shall meet. It was love and hate in equal measure so it’s … Continue reading →
I’ve tried not to make too many comparisons of Legend of the Blue Sea with screenwriter Park Ji Eun‘s last mega hit drama You From Another Star, but with the latest drama still release it fairly echoes a major plot point of YFAS. Leads Jeon Ji Hyun and Lee Min Ho narratively spend most of the drama in the modern … Continue reading →
The promos for Legend of the Blue Sea feature leads Lee Min Ho and Jeon Ji Hyun solely to the point that it feels like they are the only characters in that drama. It’s an approach different than tvN is doing for it’s own fantasy themed tale Goblin, presenting the four leads with varying auras and charms for the audience … Continue reading →
What to make of Lee Jun Ki after the debacle that is K-Bu Bu Jing Xin? A new career high due to being the best thing in a complete hot mess? Perhaps, but ultimately he’s carved out a fifteen year plus acting and singing career being so darn optimistic and earnest about each and every endeavor. He’s basically the multi-talented … Continue reading →
Someone in the production team of upcoming KBS sageuk Hwarang: The Beginning took the flower boy in the Korean title much too literally. The Shilla era sageuk is about the well known corps of historical time flower boy warrior scholars who won battles with their collective pretty, or something like that. The newest set of drama and character posters are … Continue reading →
Yay, new preview for Legend of the Blue Sea! Anything to wash away the muck and grime from the disappointment that is recently concluded Moon Lovers is fine by me. The third teaser is out and this one takes a contrasting vibe – showing us serious Lee Min Ho as a Joseon magistrate before abruptly cutting away to his modern day … Continue reading →
Welp, the long Korean drama national nightmare that is K-Bu Bu Jing Xin is finally over, and those who stuck around long enough will now need therapy and recovery time. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo got its highest ratings ever with 11.3% for the final episode 20, while KBS notched 8.5% for The Man Living in Our House and it … Continue reading →
MBC has been so meh in its Mon-Tues ratings for a few years now, and maybe guitar playing cutie Jin Goo is the shot in the dark to change things up. From currently airing Woman with a Suitcase, going backwards the network has been middling with no real hits – Monster, Glamorous Temptation, Hwajung, Pride and Prejudice, Shine or Go … Continue reading →
I never expected a mermaid themed K-drama could be so enthrall me to the point of avid anticipation. I chalk it up to Jeon Ji Hyun, she’s beautiful enough to portray a fantasy mermaid of lore, and has the indelible screen presence to sell a character grounded in extreme possibility. New stills are out for the leads of Legend of the … Continue reading →
I’m at wits end when it comes to K-Bu Bu Jing Xin, this drama has definitely taken me on a roller coaster of ride and mostly in unsatisfying ways. It kept me hooked but more like a bender for bad for my health junk food. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart: Ryeo wraps up this week with Tuesday’s final episode 20, but … Continue reading →
The original Hallyu stars were out in force this past weekend – while Kim Tae Hee, Han JI Min and Jang Dong Gun attending one event while across town Ha Ji Won showed up to adoring fans on her solo outing. I’m not a fan of her outfit at all until I realized that the color scheme of the Stylus … Continue reading →
Much can be said about Legend of the Blue Sea being over-hyped, and certainly it’s harder to meet expectations when the interest is so high. I was underwhelmed by most of the writing in You From Another Star but I did appreciate that it took risks and went for a story about a top star in love with an immortal … Continue reading →
Whatever screenwriter Kim Eun Sook has in store for her first cable network drama in tvN‘s Goblin (The Lonely Shining Goblin), I’m fully onboard with the dreamy melancholy vibe. It feels otherworldly which is exactly the mood to go for, and the four newly released character teaser videos don’t tell much in terms of narrative but sell tons of atmospherics. Gong … Continue reading →
