Nothing looks as good as having a hottie doting fiancee by one side, and the star couple of Chen Xiao and Michelle Chen were definitely the major standout at the just held Weibo Awards in China. I feel like K-ent holds its awards at year end whereas C-ent holds it in January, before the lunar new year end. Weibo is China’s microblogging site that has been described as a mashup of Facebook and Twitter, and has a reach that is enormous and growing thanks to the Chinese population and the foreigners using it to reach the Chinese audience.

The awards aren’t really taken seriously in terms of any acting wins, but the biggest awards of the night were indeed based on popularity. The King and Queen of Weibo for 2015 is none other than Wu Yi Fan (Kris) and Zhao Li Ying, so congrats to the two buzzy stars for proving that news needn’t always be good to buoy population and name recognition. I still enjoy watching C-awards for the much more interesting red carpet style, and my fashion winner of the night was the elegant, refined, and glamorous Liu Tao. It was also nice to see more HK stars in attendance including a surprise pop up from the king of comedy himself Stephen Chow. Continue reading →
