When I was watching Rich Man, Poor Woman, another dorama came to mind that actually could use the same name. That would be the execrable Tsuki no Koibito (Moon Lovers) starring Kimura Takyua as the rich man and Taiwanese supermodel/wannabe actress Lin Chi Ling as the poor woman. KimuTaku has a new dorama coming out next month called Priceless, and … Continue reading →
The upcoming Fall 2012 J-dorama season is about to commence now that the Summer doramas have either wrapped up or will be wrapping up soon. I scanned the list and there isn’t a single renzoku renai on the radar, so that means I’m going for actors to watch as opposed to story that interests me. After a truly boring Winter … Continue reading →
Y’all gonna thank me that I led off this post with the normal looking state of being for the Crown Prince of J-ent Kimura Takuya and his maybe successor-in-line Yamashita Tomohisa, because what you’re about to watch next will crack your brain. Yamapi has a new single out this week called “Love Chase” (not bad at all), so he made a … Continue reading →
Been having the week from hell. This latest SMAP for Softbank CF lifted my spirits immensely. It’s the first time I’ve seen the guys not jam to Locomotion, or appear to be walking somewhere. If anyone’s curious, check out these older CFs here, and below I’ll also post another new CF set to Locomotion filmed in Singapore. But first you … Continue reading →
TBS has spared no expense for it’s 60th Anniversary production Nankyoku Tairiku (Antarctica), a dorama that from the first frame tells you this is going to be a eyeball enriching period piece. I watched episode 1 yesterday, leaving me at times bemused, at times awed, and most of the time emotionally engaged. Which is to say: this dorama is geared 110% … Continue reading →
Are you ready for epic, folks? We’re talking feel good story of a nation rebuilding after a war, resilient and cute dogs, a snowy harsh environment, bromance up the wazoo, and did I forget to mention KimuTaku? Next week sees the premiere of Nankyoku Tairiku (The Antarctic Mainland) on October 16th, the drama being both the 60th anniversary production from … Continue reading →
A couple of months ago I did a write up on TW-actors and TW-actresses, which was relatively easy to do since there just aren’t that many of them occupying the perch as certifiable leads. The same isn’t true elsewhere, which is why I’ve been hesitant to attempt it for other industries. Nevertheless, I suddenly got the urge to run down … Continue reading →
Man, I do not want to be the drama going up against the upcoming TBS 60th anniversary dorama/annual KimuTaku offering Nankyoku Tairiku, which premieres October 16, 2011 on Sundays. This will surely wash the stink of Tsuki no Koibito off, because who can resist Kimura Takuya in a period drama (set in the 50s), in an exotic locale (filmed on location in … Continue reading →
I recently came across a lovely compendium of all the AnAn Magazine covers that KimuTaku (Kimura Takuya) has ever graced. It perfectly encapsulates the Crown Prince of J-ent and his evolution from free love hippie boy toy to serious thespian goofy SMAP member. It’s incredible to consider his legacy and longevity in an industry that typically values the next-big-thing. Currently … Continue reading →
King of J-entertainment KimuTaku (Kimura Takuya) has settled on his 2011 J-dorama project, and it’s a doozy. Something this large in scale and scope, the 60th anniversary drama for TBS, only one man has britches big enough to carry the show. And he’s bringing 19 huskie dogs along with him! KimuTaku’s next dorama will be a TV-version of a true … Continue reading →
With two months left til the premiere of the upcoming live-action adaptation of the classic space anime Space Battleship Yamato, the producers have finally dropped the official trailer. The movie stars Kimura Takuya, and features the first solo single by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, which was written especially for the movie. The single is called Love Lives, and already I am … Continue reading →
Upcoming Live-Action Movie of Space Battleship Yamato Before there was Robotech, before there was Gundam, there was Space Battleship Yamato (Uchuu Senkan Yamato 宇宙戦艦ヤマト).
