Han Ye Seul and Kim Ji Suk Start Filming MBC Mon-Tues Drama 20th Century Boy and Girl
Viewers on Mon-Tues tuning into MBC get to watch a sageuk era love triangle and who knows yet if A King Loves will actually have the king get any love back. The network is changing eras and genres completely with the next drama for that time slot 20th Century Boy and Girl, which is itself an anachronism since we’re in the 21st century already and calling the leads boy and girl makes the whole thing seem younger than it’s described as. The drama was formerly titled No Sex and the City and is about three bestie thirtysomething female friends who are all virgins still. I hope the romantic development is less about them losing their virginity but about finally dating a guy and getting into the weeds in the emotional and interpersonal connections. The leads are Han Ye Seul, Kim Ji Suk, Lee Sang Woo, Oh Sang Jin, Ahn Se Ha, and Ryu Hyun Kyung, with the PD of Happy Home, Fated to Love You and Queen’s Classroom, with a script by the screenwriter of Answer Me 1997.
The title is not an anachronism. They were a “boy and girl” in the 20th Century.
Good point!
Good cast.
I’m so happy Kim Ji Suk finally got a lead role after all this time! This is his chance to leave a good impression on the Korean public and the kdrama industry. I hope the writing is not a mess at least and the show does well.
