I feel so lucky to straddle so many different Asian entertainment show mediums, it opens my mind to how the differences can produce compelling but different products. The success of Squid Game is undoubtedly warranted but I understand why J-dorama watchers complain that its a lesser derivative of more complex crafted works. For early aughts there was Battle Royale which kicked off the survival competition genre and then came As the God’s Will and Alice in Borderland. The former got a terrible live action movie adaptation but the latter was given just presentation in a Netflix series but got roped in with Sweet Home another monster/survival tale since it premiered at the same time. I’ve read all the source manga/webtoon for these survivals tales and Alice is the tightest most legit one, it doesn’t waste a single frame or game yet humanizes all the major characters including the “villains”. The trailer for Alice 2 is out and I’m so psyched its not funny, this Christmas season is going to be LIT!

I liked the first one and I am hoping they won't F this up. praying. I am ready.
It's based on a manga so unless they go off and try to add twists or change the story, it should be good.
I liked the first season. I have heard the games are even more exciting in the second half of the manga so hopefully the live-action will do it justice.
