C-actor Xu Kai’s got so many period C-dramas under his belt I swear seeing these first stills it felt like something I’ve seen before. He’s the male lead in the upcoming xianxia drama Sword and Fairy, which is the highly anticipated adaptation of RPG Chinese Paladin 6, with the numbers referred to the version of the game which each have completely different stories and some are more popular than others. Sword and Fairy is super popular hence the excitement. He looks straight out of Wonderland of Love and if you go back there’s also Snow Eagle Lord, Ancient Love Poetry, and The Legends. His female lead is Yu Shu Xin (Esther Yu) who is coming off the hit summer drama Love Between Fairy and Devil and also has an early fall drama out with Zhang Bin Bin called Romance of the Little Forest so she’s one busy bee these days. C-netizens are upset that she’s styled to look more like a maid than the female lead (their words) and find the second female lead more striking on first impression.

You know I have to say, Esther yu looks stunning,beautiful and naturally gorgeous and unique in whatever she wear! People make the clothes, clothes don’t make the people’s!!
Just watch how she play her role, she malificent totally awesome 🤔☺️
What is Esther’s role this time? I dont know, is it her acting or her character that repetitive. I have nothing against her but she seems to take the same character over and over again. Probably next time, she tries something new. Q broken melancholy or a psycho or a tough fighter… she can do better.
And of course, the same goes to Xu Kai.
Xu Kai has so many great upcoming dramas! He has great acting abilities to portray characters of different styles, and he looks like characters coming straight out the book in these shots. Look forward to seeing more of his work!
