Go Yoon Jung in Talks for Hospital Playlist PD’s Next Drama and Also for Hong Sisters Drama with Male Lead Kim Sun Ho

K-actress Go Yoon Jung may be going back to one well that made her famous and another that is known for elevating actors to next level. On the heels of the conclusion of Disney+ drama Moving where she played one of the three main high school leads, and did such a wonderful job, she’s been offered the lead in PD Shin Won Ho‘s next drama which will be his first since Hospital Playlist 2. He’s most famous for that series and the Answer Me trio of dramas. Go Yoon Jung reportedly has also been offered the female lead in the next Hong Sisters drama Can This Love be Translated which has been through a few lead names attached but hasn’t yet confirmed, with the most recent male lead offer out to Kim Sun Ho. Go Yoon Jung obvious leveled up with the Hong Sisters through Alchemy of Souls so it’s no surprise she’s still in their good graces and up for the female lead.

Go Yoon Jung in Talks for Hospital Playlist PD’s Next Drama and Also for Hong Sisters Drama with Male Lead Kim Sun Ho — 23 Comments

      • I think as long as the younger of the pair is already 25 years old and above, it’s not an issue for me. This applies to both genders, btw. Just my opinion

    • Yeah, I like her more with younger partners. She was super cute with the boy in Moving and with LJW in Alchemy of Souls.
Anyway I’m happy she’s getting roles because I like her a lot. She’s very pretty and charismatic…and her voice is quite unique, it gives her a lot of personality.

    • How is real age gap an issue for acting? They are acting. She doesn’t look that young and KSH doesn’t look that old either as their real ages. Dressed as a high schooler in the prior drama doesn’t imply she should be always taking young roles close to her real age. A good actor should be able to act in any role of any age (with the help of appropriate makeup), be it older or younger. Fans should change mentality about age-appropriate concern. There ISN’T any age related issues in performing art as long as makeup and costumes are appropriate. Same concept equally applies to argue against the unreasonable criticism of a C actor who took a role of 18 yrs old when he’s already around 30. What’s the problem with that? He looks young and extremely handsome anyway. LOL

  1. I really don’t see what people see in her. In Moving, she wasn’t bad, but her scenes or her character wasn’t incredible. She couldn’t make me forget Jung So-Min in AoS. She was supposed to be incredibly beautiful, but it didn’t work for me. She’s pretty but not charming for me. It’s sad because I liked her in the first season as a warrior.

At least, she’s choosing very different role.

    • I think in AOS, it’s mostly the styling and how she was shot and lit that gave her have that “otherworldy beautiful” vibe that people keep on harping about. But I’ve seen her in other things outside of AOS, as well as in more candid pics and I really don’t think she’s this great beauty everyone is hyping her up as. Nothing super special about her acting either, although she’s obviously not a bad actress either.

So yes, I’m with you. I really don’t get this insane hype over her. I’m not even trying to be catty or anything, I’m literally just confused lol. And the constant comparison to Han So Hee, who I think is the actual goddess level of beautiful, makes me scratch my head lol. I know we’re in the minority with this opinion, but I’m just glad someone else also don’t get all the fuss lol

      • I’m cool with young actresses getting opportunities no matter what when the guys get jobs right left and center just for being good looking quasi jailbait.

Yet actresses have to be beauties for the ages with Meryl Streep’s talent just to be deemed acceptable…

    • GYJ is more fitted for your so call description ‘ incredible beautiful’ than JSM. Your bias JSM does not fit the role of what’s written for AOS2. It’s time to move on. I could imagine both of their fans coming in here and make a commotion.

The fact is AOS gave the exposure JSM needed. Roles like MuDoek are never offered to her before and she prove she can do fierce roles. AOS1 and 2 also gave GYJ the extra exposures she needed. Like it or not, GYJ is the next generation of new leading ladies. She is a better actress at the same age in her career than even SongHyeKyo,Suzy,HanGaIn, just to name a few. They got so much criticism for their acting earlier in their careers but is often praised for their beauty. At least in GYJ’s case, she is both praise for her acting and beauty. Even if both you and @meghan below don’t see her beauty, that’s your own standard, because there are others who don’t see SHY,Suzy, HSH, or HGI that beautiful either.

Here she is offered 2 big project that any newbies would love to get.

    • Exactly, I feel the same. It’s not that I think she’s ugly – there’s almost no ugly people in k-entertainment -, but she’s quite average for a Korean actress. She does seem to mold herself quite nicely into her roles, so there’s that.

  2. I like her. Shes a blank paper type of actress. Moldable into different roles without people being fixated on any past characters she played. To me she was good in Moving. Blended well with the big ensemble cast yet held her own. The sky’s the limit for this girl. Already snagging endorsements left right center. P.s – I hope she will pass on the role with KSH. Theres so much mediaplay at the moment from his agency and the production company. E.g namedropping han so hee when its probably one of the hundred scripts she received. Now Go Youn Jung. Seems like in Korea hes still quite a “taboo” to be associated with. Only asia and beyond is worshipping him like hes an Alist superstar.

    • Namedropping Han So-hee is such a smart media play though. Reminded fans of their roles in 100 Days My Prince, plus the excitement that she would try a romance after successive genre drama roles. He hired good PR.

  3. The biggest question is whether GYJ would be the first actress to take that step to want to be paired w/ coming off such a negative scandal as KSH in a targeted Romance. Typically Romance drama lives and dies w/ the leads chemistry after all.

The drama itself is not her usually that she goes for. She tends to pick project w/ darker/fantasy/bloody dramas.
Deep down, I would like another leading man due to his scandal and age wise. But then again, so many people declined the offers and it’s usually a bad sign, it best to be caution both leading actors here.

    • This might go the same route as KSH’s casting on the project by the Love in the Moonlight writer, especially if they get two public rejections (if GJY declines since she has a good next role with ShinLee). With KSH’s initial casting as the ML on Haesi’s Shinri, they allegedly had the difficult task of securing an FL.

  4. In my head I keep thinking how similar her and HSH are and clearly am not the only one who feels that way. Still her project with Shin Wonho sounds more exciting but its amazing seeing her get more High-end projects. She and LJW completely dominated AOS2 and their chemistry was everything I felt was missing with AOS1. JSM was always miscast in the role since she was pulled into it last min but GYJ was perfect for it and her etheral looks was and great match for the rough-edged LJW. The sexual tension and chemistry they had was insane. She’s going to be the top-most actress of the late 90s actresses and rightfuly so. Girl is talented and producers lover her as do endorsers and fashion brands. She’s got everything sorted for her and I am excited to see more of her in the future. Versatile and beautiful whats not to love.

  5. I don’t think she looks anything like Han So Hee but they both are super beautiful, like 😍. They are also pretty good in acting, although I think I prefer GYJ because I find her easier to blend into her roles. HSH has a stronger persona, I feel. Because of that, she seems older – in a mature sort of way. So I don’t think that they can be after the same roles, they are both beautiful but their vibes differ.

    • HSH’s biggest problem is sparking with her co-actors. Maybe its because she has this stuck up cool model face and built that chemistry is often lacking when she does her romance scenes. It was bad back to back. With Song Kang in Nevertheless (thought they have more chemistry in the bts) to Soundtrack 1 with Park Hyung Sik to Ahn Bo Hyun in My Name. Hope it changes in Gyeongsang Creature with Park Seo Joon. After all hes quite good at creating chemistry with his female costars and they have 2 seasons to work it out. Some actresses just are better at these kind of roles. Gong Hyo Jin is one. Seo Hyun Jin is another. Kim sejeong for younger gen actress also have good chemistry with her male leads. Thats why I tend to incline towards GYJ pulling off having beautiful looks and sparking with her costar when doing this genre. So far she’s been doing well (sparked with both HMH and LJW in AOS2) and in Moving the chemistry between her and bongseok was really cute. Just wish it wasn’t kim seonho. But ive read the korean press pieces. Looks like its confirmed and locked in. *facepalm*

  6. GYJ pairing with KSH will look like an uncle romancing his niece even if they only have 10 year gap because she looks much younger than her age with her angelic face and he looks older.

His agency should not try so hard pairing him with pretty young actresses. It looks pathetic when they don’t have confidence in his star power anymore. Or scared his drama will tank if the FL is not young and popular.

Besides, it will not look good if the other actresses back out too like what Han So Hee did. With the issues surrounding his scandal, maybe he should stay away from playing romantic roles for a bit and choose a more mature actress instead. If he’s as good as his fans say he is, then he doesn’t need young or popular actresses to give him the ratings.

    • Man, so weird that people waste their time being puritan haters on Internet forums. None of the people in this story know that you exist or care about your casting opinions.

      • It’s just an opinion, dear. We can share that in the internet. Let’s face it, no top and popular actress will like to be paired with a has-been star. And majority of audience will not like to see an uncle-looking actor seducing an innocent-young looking actress onscreen. That’s just so gross and creepy. Maybe 10 years ago he can do this but not now when his face starts to look older than his age. His agents are only embarrassing him more when more popular actresses keep pulling out from shows he is in.
