So Director Guo Jingming aired My Journey to You to mixed results but as usual got chatter so he likely got his return on investment. He’s currently filming a new C-drama already with The Story of Mystics but his next one after is already in the works. The literal title is called Fake Song Dynasty Assassin Diary and is adapted from a novel titled Song Dynasty Female Assassin. The leads are reportedly Zhang Jing Yi and Chen Mu Chi, with Fan Cheng Cheng and Lu Yu Xiao in second lead roles. It’s a female lead centric drama knowing Guo Jingming will likely be heavy on the visual flourishes.

Meh I'm not familiar with this novel and drama. Anyone knows why the drama title uses the word 伪宋 instead of 大宋?
I hope Lu Yu Xiao gets a lead role soon. She deserves it.
I don't like this director. A lot of folks said he's style over substance. I now know what they meant from My Journey to You. It's a step down for MuChi to go from "Feng Sheng Bang" movie director to this one, even if I'm not a fan of his.
I don't like Director Guo's style directing MJTY either. But I'll give a shot to this new drama based upon the synopsis. Both actor and actress had interesting projects in the past. I enjoyed ZJI's Lighter & Princess. I also recall that CMC appeared to steal a bit of thunder from the ML in the Starry Love although I didn't watch many eps of that drama. ZJI's acting is good and CMC seems to have a lot of potential IMO. So I'll give a try even I don't have high expectation over any C dramas that I have tried to watch so many but eventually dropped most of them.
Recently I've been impressed by Zhang Jingyi! I found Lighter and Princess boring unfortunately, but I saw her again, although for short moments, in Hidden Blade. It was awe from then on. In her age group, I truly believe she's on a natural steady path, unlike past actresses I've liked who got big heads and are now controversial. Good luck to her, hopefully despite qualms about the director this series does well, especially since it's FL centric.
Damn ! Being under Zhou Xun and Chen Khun wings does help a lot. They have been trying and pushing that girl hard !
Not too sure about Guo JingMing work. He got a serious ego problem and he is all style but no substance.
