This is a surprising choice of drama to air on cable network jTBC more known for its more serious fare. The network is airing in July the youth drama The Moment of 18 which will star rookie actor Ong Seung Woo formerly of Wanna One and Produce 101 fame with award winning young movie actress Kim Hyang Gi. At first … Continue reading →

The currently airing Wed-Thurs MBC drama Spring Night is growing on me so I’m less pressed for it to finish and romance sageuk Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung to take over. I was initially bored senseless by the story in Spring Night but found the acting beautifully restrained and now the story is picking up the drama has that nice … Continue reading →
There have been a handful of big name K-actor military discharges in the first half of 2019 including Lee Min Ho and Ji Chang Wook but this one will be the most high profile among the industry production and veterans. Kim Soo Hyun will be finished with his military service on July 1 and his return has all the pundits … Continue reading →
This is just weird casting news, both in timing and the stars selected, but then again the drama in question is super weird too so maybe it all makes sense in its own way. Idol Jisoo of the girl group Blackpink and boy group 2PM‘s Nickhun are revealed to have a special role in Arthdal Chronicles, which has also wrapped … Continue reading →
Has it been 15 years, really? Legit blew my mind to think nation’s son (or son-in-law) Lee Seung Gi has been in the entertainment industry for 15 years and counting this week. He posted a selfie last week to thank fans for this milestone as be debuted on June 5, 2004 at the age of 17 years with the song … Continue reading →
This was such an irresponsible and idiotic move that even I agree with K-netizens raking him over the coals. Singer Choi Min Hwan attended a baseball game this weekend and threw out the celebrity first pitch, a common occurrence in South Korea. He brought along with wife and son and had his son in a baby Bjorn in front of … Continue reading →
The June gloom seems to have finally lifted where I live which means the sunglasses need to come out as early as 9 am to ward off the extra bright rays. K-star Suzy is showcasing a variety of new styles in her sunglasses CF this month, and the looks are all very re-imagined retro. There’s pops of 70’s and 80’s … Continue reading →
I realize why actors and actresses continue to work for the wildly inconsistent Hong Sisters. It’s because viewers will always blame the Sisters for their writing when one of their dramas falls apart and even their failed works don’t stain the resume of any leads so it’s a good gamble to try on one of their creative projects for size. … Continue reading →
Well this is certainly very very over-the-top. Japanese actor and singer Taguchi Junnosuke, best known for being in boy band KAT-TUN, was arrested last week along with his actress girlfriend Komine Rena for possession of marijuana. He’s been in jail for the past week and was released today from custody and the media was waiting outside for him. Upon stepping … Continue reading →
There’s some real life drama in the land of the older marrieds and hopefully it’s something that will blow over. Veteran leading man Kim Seung Woo called the cops this week to report that his wife, leading lady Kim Nam Joo, was missing. She was located later at a hotel and her agency claims she was there with girlfriends and … Continue reading →
It’s the second week of TW-drama Before We Get Married and boy am I conflicted. On one hand I am addicted beyond belief but on the other neither lead is a “good” character that makes me sympathetic to their complicated emotions. All I care about is seeing leads Puff Guo and Jasper Liu give in to their wild sexual chemistry … Continue reading →
Now this is a cute way to reveal a baby, even if it’s also a tad coy. C-actress Liu Shi Shi shared the first picture of her newborn baby boy this week on her SNS and it was to cheer on the high school students about to take the vaunted college entrance exam. The picture she posted had his wee … Continue reading →
