The first hit movie out of the Taiwan domestic film industry is here and it’s the bittersweet romance Man in Love, a remake of the same name Korean movie with Hwang Jung Min and Kim Hee Jin. The TW-version stars Roy Qiu and Tiffany Ann Hsu, a great pairing that should have worked together in the plethora of TW-dramas out … Continue reading →
There is so much good news for Song Joong Ki and Lee Hee Joon, both are nominated for a Baeksang acting award this year and have gotten rave reviews for their acting performance in currently aired/airing dramas Vincenzo and Mouse, respectively. Both deserve a nice extended break after pouring their heart and guts out on long 20-episode drama shoots but … Continue reading →
It’s easy to make comparisons but only those with the same fact patterns really provide insight. K-actress Seo Ye Ji has disappeared from public view since scandal broke last month that she was the instigator as the then girlfriend of Kim Jung Hyun‘s cold and awkward behavior on the set of his drama Time. She was further revealed to have … Continue reading →
It was yet another historic year for the Korean film industry at the Academy Awards, after last year Parasite winning Best Movie and Bong Joon Ho taking home Best Director, this year it was on the acting side as veteran actress Youn Yuh Jung won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Minari. The Parasite cast was not nominated for … Continue reading →
This Sunday is the 2021 Academy Awards, held later than the usual Feb/March time frame due to lingering COVID1-19 reasons but it’s still happening with plenty of great movies and performances to laud. K-film had a banner year in 2020 right before COVID-19 shut the world down. I still remember Parasite winning Best Picture and Best Screenplay, and Bong Joon … Continue reading →

This week’s news report that K-actress Seo Ye Ji was the alleged ex-girlfriend to Kim Jung Hyun who played a controlling role in the Time drama production debacle three years ago could not have come at a worse time for her. Her agency has not released a statement responding to the allegations first reported by Dispatch nearly 24 hours ago, … Continue reading →

The movie has garnered universal praise with the only quibble whether it’s a US-language movie or a foreign film. It’s an Korean-American movie for sure, set … Continue reading →
The charismatic hotties for the price of one movie ticket, oh heck yeah! Seo In Guk and Jang Dong Yoon are confirmed to star in action sci-fi thriller movie Wolf Hunt, set on a giant ocean freighter that is transporting prisoners overseas. Both actors will be playing prisoners on the ship and the movie is from the director of hit … Continue reading →
The two-part (so far) fantasy K-movies Along With the Gods broke box office records and is among my personal faves for how well it adapted the expansive source manhwa into a thrilling big screen romp. The director’s next film is confirmed to be The Moon, trading fantasy for sci-fi and feels a bit like Gravity. The male leads are D.O. … Continue reading →
Super Bowl weekend is normally quiet in box office premieres in the US during the pre-COVID era and the only movie to drop is smaller budget counterprogramming. With theaters mostly still closed in many countries around the world, movie premieres have been either with lower box office expectation and haul or moving to streaming premieres. Korean sci-fi movie Space Sweepers … Continue reading →

I not only want this movie to be good I really hope it does well. Too bad we won’t ever know what type of traditional box office it would have brought in but if it starts trending on Netflix that will be good news enough. Sci-fi Korean movie Space Sweepers (Spaceship Victory) drops this weekend on Netflix worldwide, finally meeting … Continue reading →
