Filming has kicked off for the K-movie Land of Happiness, which is so talent packed it makes me squee with joy. The movie will headline Jo Jung Seok, Lee Seon Kyun, and Yoo Jae Myung, each a male lead on his own and together a triumvirate of the nicest group of best K-actors around. The movie is about a lawyer … Continue reading →
It’s funny to see Western media write about Netflix K-drama Squid Game and lead Lee Jung Jae as if it’s his first foray with blockbuster fame. In a worldwide level for sure, but he’s been a top movie star in South Korea for nearly three decades and is so famous he’s often taken cameo/guest starring/villain roles in recent years to … Continue reading →
K-netizens are calling the upcoming period the Era of Yoona. I don’t disagree because it’s rare to see a star with so many big projects on her plate. Yoona is currently filming the upcoming tvN drama Big Mouth (also referred to as Big Mouse) with Lee Jong Seok, she also has the ensemble movie Happy New Year that sounds like … Continue reading →
The year long delay was no deterrent for potboiler political action flick Escape From Mogadishu, the Korean movie this weekend became the biggest box office hit in South Korea this year 2021. It overtook Black Widow and now has 3 million tickets sold. South Korea like around the world remains under COVID-19 restrictions still and this summer the Seoul region … Continue reading →
Okay, this is a great replacement choice and I personally prefer it more. Rookie and rising young actress Choi Sung Eun has been tapped as the female lead in upcoming K-movie Gentleman, taking over from super buzzy IT actress Han So Hee after she declined the role citing exhaustion. Choi Sung Eun was a supporting lead in jTBC critically acclaimed … Continue reading →
There’s a sorta switcheroo or maybe musical chairs with K-movie Gentleman today in the news. Female lead Han So Hee, in what would have been her big screen debut, has dropped out of the movie with her agency citing exhaustion. That she was going into filming right after or near concurrently with jTBC drama Nevertheless and she’s also in the … Continue reading →
Movie releases are still not back to the pre-pandemic levels or hype otherwise summer is always a weekly check of what big new movie is coming out. South Korea has really cemented the genre of the disaster comedy which sounds like mutually exclusive but if the disaster part has no deaths and just a lot of running around then the … Continue reading →
Hhhhmmmm, this projects sounds a whole lot more interesting for me after I chanced upon the male lead recently in another drama. The Netflix produced movie adaptation of webtoon Moral Sense has wrapped filming and I’m guessing we could even see it by year end. It stars two idol-actors in Seohyun of SNSD and Lee Jun Young (Jun) of U-KISS … Continue reading →
The signatures are inked and the leads for the 2022 K-movie Gentlemen are finalized. Joo Ji Hoon and Han So Hee will work together in what is being described as a comedic detective movie where the two leads must team up to unravel a conspiracy. Joo Ji Hoon plays the head of a private detective agency who gets framed for … Continue reading →
I recently took my first flight in 20 months and it was a long enough one that I could watch some movies that I know are best consumed as time fillers. One was the most recent Confidence Man offering in the series which started as a dorama and then got an SP, then a first movie, and now a second … Continue reading →
I love a fast and fun heist money, even ones that are not perfect can still deliver a worthwhile two hours of entertainment. A big budget star studded one is coming soon from Netflix which is also expanding its Korean movie production and this one sounds fantastic! The streaming giant is funding the production of Seoul Vibe (Seoul Battle) and … Continue reading →
Okay, at this point I’m watching to see if Han So Hee breaks some sort of record for being cast in the most movies and/or dramas in one year. I’m glad she’s not someone I’m particularly keen on (as of now) otherwise I would worry that she is headed towards over exposure, and also the more projects she’s in the … Continue reading →
Oh how, like, a decade changes everything lol. TW-actor Roy Qiu is having a career best year in 2021, though he’s had plenty good ones before in his nearly 15 year long career. Thanks to the TW-movie When a Man Loves, adapted from the same name Korean movie, it’s nonstop accolades and success his way. His role of the gangster … Continue reading →
