The success this month of K-drama Teach You a Lesson will definitely keep K-dramas higher on the Netflix recommended list for viewers and can only help for the platform’s next K-drama. That would be The East Palace (Dong Gong) a supernatural sageuk that has shades of The Joseon Exorcist except with ghosts instead of zombies, and also hopefully no inaccuracies … Continue reading →
I think its fine K-netizens just demand whatever they demand, because there is satisfaction to thwart them when their demands go unanswered lol. This Friday a new K-drama premiered on Netflix, the series Teach You a Lesson starring Kim Moo Yeol with Lee Sung Min, Jin Ki Joo, and P.O. It depicts a future in South Korea where the laws … Continue reading →
I can’t tell if it’s just serendipitous timing or inevitable irony that on the week C-drama has a rumor that supporting cast for an upcoming drama will be replaced by AI actors there is the actual confirmed news out of K-dramas that an upcoming drama fully used AI to increase production speed and cut costs. The drama is SBS father … Continue reading →
So the tax evasion or owed additional taxes issue that has embroiled a few K-stars this year alone, including Cha Eun Woo, Yoo Yeon Seok, Lee Min Ki, and others, can now add Ji Chang Wook to that list. It’s being reported that after a recent government tax audit concluded it was deemed that he owed billions in unpaid taxes, … Continue reading →
Well this is a mighty stacked cast, and with a source material in an interesting period era is one of the bigger project K-dramas on deck. Whale Star: Gyeongseong Mermaid has confirmed earlier casting news and unveiled the full cast of Moon Ga Young, Choi Woo Shik, Heo Nam Joon, and Gong Seung Yeon. It’s a story set in 1920’s … Continue reading →
I hope this is the beginning of this controversy dying down and is probably the only result that can placate the public and also let this drama stay streaming. MBC announced this week that it will cut the coronation scene from Perfect Crown for all streaming and broadcast. Never mind that narratively it was an important scene and also grandly … Continue reading →
If you asked me whether I had K-drama Perfect Crown on my bingo card of results ending in the biggest K-drama controversy in years then I would have precognition and should go pick stocks instead and make millions. This outcome was nowhere on any possibility of happening and now it’s here it’s not going away that quickly or easily with … Continue reading →
K-actor Lee Jong Seok is one of the more versatile stars of his generation of male leads in terms of genre hopping. Up next he has the live action K-drama adaptation of Remarried Empress where he plays a prince who can also transform into a bird, lol don’t ask, and not sure if the drama will keep that fantasy element. … Continue reading →
All I personally felt about fantasy romance K-drama Perfect Crown was that it had all the elements to be a great drama and I was disappointed that it never lived up to its potential and was quite mediocre to bad in quality. But it didn’t offend me so the drama getting mired in a huge controversy at the very tail … Continue reading →
Wow, I was already disappointed with Perfect Crown for its trope ridden shallow narrative and character development heading into the finale that I didn’t think it could actually outdo itself and throw in a last minute plot twist to make the drama even worse. I don’t know what IU and Byun Woo Seok were thinking accepting this drama, except perhaps … Continue reading →
I think with Lee Do Hyun back from the army and Lim Ji Yeon continuing to shine in her work selections, these two have a shot at being the cutest and most award winning couple in the next decade to follow in the hoobae footsteps of many of top married K-star marrieds. Her just premiered new drama My Royal Nemesis … Continue reading →
I so wanted to love Perfect Crown, and I did for the first two episodes even. Alas the excitement and interest faded quickly as the drama got going, a combination of not enough character or plot development due to the truncated 12-episode length and the lack of chemistry between leads IU and Byun Woo Seok. They were together very good … Continue reading →
So it’s probably going to be a wash when currently airing K-drama Perfect Crown wraps in terms of how it affects the career of leads IU and Byun Woo Seok. The drama isn’t a flop and is doing okay in ratings and buzz but it’s not the hit that the big budget, promos, and popularity of the leads should have … Continue reading →
