A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Taiwan entertainment got a super out-of-the-blue (har har) surprise to start off this weekend with the breaking news that actor Blue Lan and his award-winning actress girlfriend Jade Chou (Chou You Ting) got married! Not just got married, they calmly waltzed into the local registrars office and registered their marriage legally with zero fanfare. This officially caps a quick week … Continue reading →

Written and Video Preview for Episode 5 of Dr. Stranger

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

I’m relieved to pare down my intake by two dramas what with Secret Love Affair and In a Good Way both ending last week. Loved both to pieces but I was starting to feel the strain of too much drama overload. This weekend let me look ahead to what’s on deck for next week and it’s official that my next crack … Continue reading →

Four Perfect MVs Scored to In a Good Way OST Songs to Remember the OTP Love

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

The process of recapping a drama makes me wear the dual hats of viewer and critic. I need to watch something and write about it, which means I can’t just watch with my brain turned off. Sometimes it’s a very relaxing and enervating experience to watching something with just the intake button on without needing to think about how I … Continue reading →

Lost You Forever Chapter 27: When Waves Ripple on Flat Ground

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

What makes Lost You Forever that much more impressive is that Tong Hua does serious mythology building and tells a story beyond romance and love triangles and who loves whom. That stuff is great but I’m just as keen on the world of the various God kingdoms and the conflicts between gods and demons and the general immersion into a … Continue reading →

He sees that her loneliness doesn’t have to be a permanent part of her life, but he hasn’t seen her turn away from all the trappings she feels she earned over the years. Yes, she doesn’t want to lose him, … Continue reading →

Stars Light Up the VIP Premiere of Song Seung Heon’s Explicit New Movie Obsessed

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s past mid-May which means the full blown Summer movie season is just ramping up in a low key way. Kicking things off a bit early for the K-box office is the Song Seung Heon explicitly-rated affair movie Obsessed. I’ve posted trailers and stills which showcase the heady sexual love obsession the movie title refers to, with Song Seung Heon’s army colonel in … Continue reading →

Lee Jun Ki and Nam Sang Mi Lead the Talented Cast of Joseon Gunman at the KBS Script Reading

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Can I have a moment here to just soak in this dream come true? Seeing Lee Jun Ki and Nam Sang Mi adorably posing together for the script reading stills just released by KBS for the upcoming drama Joseon Gunman (The Joseon Shooter) leave me making incoherent noises that would alarm a seal. I’ll confess to not watching the current KBS Wed-Thurs … Continue reading →

Biggest News in K-ent This Week is the Real-life Drama of EXO Member Kris Suing SM to Leave the Popular Group

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

Prior to this week I only knew two things about the currently hottest K-pop guy group EXO: (1) it released the most unintentionally hilarious (i.e. awful) music video I had the pleasure of watching in years in “Wolf”, and (2) it has allegedly the most crazy/scary/absurd fandom since the heyday of DBSK and Super Junior. I didn’t care to learn … Continue reading →

In a Good Way (Final) Episode 26 Recap

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

After six-months and twenty-six exquisite drama hours, In a Good Way ended this Friday with neither a bang nor a whimper, saying goodbye instead with an indelible touch. I’ll discuss the ending in the post recap thoughts and will instead devote the opening remarks to saying a fond farewell. This drama snuck up on me having initially viewed it as filler for … Continue reading →

Yoon Eun Hye Opens a Coffee Shop and Her Artwork is Placed on Display at 10 Corso Como Seoul

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

It’s pretty well known in K-ent that Yoon Eun Hye is a very devout Christian and is also quite artistic. She’s dabbled in fashion and painting and interior design and actually created something very pretty each time I’ve seen her work. Recently she hasn’t been active with her acting career, wisely taking a break after last Fall’s epic hot mess … Continue reading →

You’re All Surrounded Episode 4 Recap

A Koala's Playground Posted on by

A drama can be frustrating to watch in good ways, challenging our perceptions and crowding our comfort zones. Episode 3 of You’re All Surrounded was exactly the opposite, frustrating in ways that pushed the boundaries of sense for the sake of hammering home a point. The P4 are inexperienced and incompetent, yes, but to have a snowball of bad judgment, … Continue reading →

Secret Love Affair Episode 15 Recap

http://i1187.photobucket.com/albums/z392/Jomo143/sla15/think_zpscbf856f3.png We have a hard time reading Hye Won since she communicates so little of her schemes and thoughts. Her words are as spare as her sleek wardrobe lines. Nothing is wasted. If Hye Won were a poem, she’d be a haiku. Listening to the few honest words she does speak, I think we can decipher what is in her … Continue reading →
