Looks like this Summer will bring back some sageuks to K-dramas after taking a short breather from the genre. There’s Joseon Gunman on KBS, Records of a Night Watchman on MBC, and now tvN is joining in as it preps Three MusketeersĀ for August. What got me intrigued by Three Musketeers is the behind-the-scenes talent with the scriptwriter who did Queen … Continue reading →
I’ll admit to being disappointed initially with Lee Jong Seok‘s headlining of Dr. Stranger, especially followed by Park Hae Jin signing on as the second male lead. My like for these two actors are reversed from the importance of their roles in DS so I would have preferred more Park Hae Jin over Lee Jong Seok. Six-episodes into DS and … Continue reading →
I am so in love already with the upcoming SETTV Friday night drama that is taking over the In a Good Way time slot that I’ll forgive it for changing its name yet again. The drama formerly known as Love Meets Cupid (ē±ę éč§é±ęÆē¹) changed its Chinese title to Like One Person/Like to be Alone(åę¬¢Ā·äøäøŖäŗŗ) and appeared to settle on the … Continue reading →
Whatever You’re All Surrounded was waiting for before unleashing its potential to be solidly good, the trigger must’ve hit because episode 6 was the first time everything clicked for me. Again I can’t say it’s marvelous well-written stuff that everyone can’t miss out on, but for fans of Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won at least it’s no longer … Continue reading →
I hope the Dr. Stranger watching experience does not devolve into theĀ fervor ofĀ last year’s epic and messy Answer Me 1994 shipper fan wars. That was over which of the two male lead characters ought to get the girl, and perhaps it’s refreshing to see DS with the opposite problem of which of the two female lead characters viewers ship with … Continue reading →
I can’t be the only C-drama viewer out there blindsided this week by the unexpected and sudden premiere of Incisive Great Teacher. This was the period comedy drama starring Liu Shi Shi and Nicky Wu filmed after they reunited on the turd Bu Bu Jing Qing, but since BBJQ just aired it’s weird to see Incisive Great Teacher following on … Continue reading →
MBC appears to have finally give up on its nearly decade long pipe dream to bring Dae Jung Geum 2 to the small screens with Lee Young Ae‘s definitely no-thanks last week to the offer to reprise her career-making role. That means the time slot after the currently airing Mon-Tues drama Triangle needs to be filled with something else not … Continue reading →
To my everlasting relief You’re All Surrounded righted itself after last week’s abrupt plunge to horrible-ville. It’s hard to say if that was an aberration or the drama might end up see-sawing between inept character writing for plot tricks or start the steady and perilous climb toĀ turn aĀ bunch of inexperienced rookies into decent cops. Last week’s stumbleĀ was making Soo Sun … Continue reading →
Not every commercial feels exploitative though it’s increasingly hard to find one that acknowledges hawking a product while attemptingĀ to do so sincerely. That makes Lee Min Ho‘s short but high profile C-webdrama Love LINE co-starring TW-actress Bea Hayden all the more remarkable for coming across as sweet and down-to-earth. It’s not packed with razzle dazzle and lets the two leads … Continue reading →
The second big K-drama remake of a TW-drama has started filming and this one I’m way more interested in. Currently the remake of My Queen is airing on cable network tvN as Witch’s Romance with Uhm Jung Hwa and Park Seo Joon. I checked out the first episode and found it inoffensive and had its own flavor but there wasn’t … Continue reading →
Episode 6 of Dr. Stranger was all over the place in dialing up the conspiracy greater than expected and conflicting feelings shooting every which way. It’s easier to just watch rather than try and guess ahead, especially when it comes to whether Jae Hee is still alive and how come everyone seems to be in on whatever is brewing around … Continue reading →
It’s still quite a ways away from Dr. Stranger ending its run on SBS Mon-Tues but it has been strange (har har) that the network didn’t have any definitive drama lined up to take its place. That changed this week as SBS announced a melodrama called Temptation will be taking over for the strange doctor come July. Likely this production … Continue reading →
This particular gossip update came out last month but I never got around to posting about it then. I was knee deep getting hooked on Oguri Shun‘s new J-dorama BorderĀ (so freaking awesome and unexpectedly funny) so this slipped past me until the rumors surfaced of Matsumoto Jun and Inoue Mao maybe dating for real and perhaps planning to get hitched. … Continue reading →
