The new stills are out for next week’s new episodes of Empress Ki and I’m swooning already. A royal hunting expedition is organized and we see Consort Seung Nyang and Emperor Ta Hwan dressed to hunt in all their imperial splendor. It’s the first time Seung Nyang and Ta Hwan have gone horse backing riding and shooting since his days … Continue reading →
I think I’m going to get an overdose of the 1930’s Shanghai era once the one-two punch of period C-dramas Cruel Romance and Lady and Liar when both hit the airwaves. It’s not just the setting that I love, I’m interested in both stories and following Cruel Romance with Chen Qiao En and Huang Xiaoming releasing a teaser last month, … Continue reading →
Is there an air of nostalgia lurking around these days? Why else would I suddenly feel like it’s 2009 now and the crazy days of You’re Beautiful have just passed? Last week the leads of YB Park Shin Hye and Jang Geun Seok re-teamed for their umpteenth CF collaboration together, this time all the way over in China to shill … Continue reading →
The introductory chapters of Lost You Forever are done and now we’re headed into the good stuff. And when I say good stuff, pretty much every chapter gets better and better and the world of these gods and goddesses, demons and humans, it all takes on this epic quality with so much delicate detail that touches the heart. One of … Continue reading →
Ready or not, the the rather derogatorily named K-drama rom-com Sly and Single Again (Cunning Single Lady) is headed our way next week. It follows behind Miss Korea which was preempted one episode for the Olympics so will air its final episode next Wednesday. This drama then gets a Thursday premiere and MBC has decided to air two episodes back-to-back. … Continue reading →
I’ve been a Lee Bum Soo fan since forever but it wasn’t until he returned to television in the mid-2000s after doing exclusively movies for many years that I think the international audience got a whiff of what he’s cooking up. He picked some great projects when he first returned to television, and I don’t remember if I watched Surgeon … Continue reading →
When episode 12 rolled around with the amazing concert and the group effort and the hugging and more hugging, I said that was the best episode of In a Good Way to date. Who knew that the drama would promptly up its own awesome right around the corner, using a relatively slow burn episode 13 to set up for what … Continue reading →
Time to welcome our third male lead to Lost You Forever, and I don’t mean he’s third in line to win our leading lady’s heart. While he’s the final guy to show up in the story, narratively he’s got a much much deeper tie to Xiao Liu than either of them knows right off the bat. As usual with stuff … Continue reading →
Oh yeah, can I have a hoot hoot! I want to see Liu Chuan or Jia En explain away that hug, which is neither in a darkened concert or at the behest of a rock star telling everyone to engage in a hug-a-thon. Episode 14 of In A Good Way is right around the corner and the anticipation is building … Continue reading →
When a drama storytelling allows itself to stay true to it’s intent and unwavering in its honesty, there is nothing more satisfying as a viewer than to appreciate being treated like an adult. I loved episode 19 of Miss Korea even though pretty much nothing important happened in the way K-dramas love to deliver wham-bam big moments. Since the end … Continue reading →
Chapter 1 of Lost You Forever was good, wasn’t it? I was hooked before I knew it by how different Tong Hua chose to delve into what was billed as a majorly epic story. The novel has three volumes and volume 1 alone has 17 chapters so be patient as I try my best on the translations and pray my … Continue reading →
There is finally some major breaking news in Jung So Min‘s acting career and it couldn’t have come at a better time and in such a great potential project. Jung So Min has been confirmed to join the cast of Big Man with Kang Ji Hwan and Daniel Choi. She will be playing the younger sister to Daniel Choi’s character, … Continue reading →
What a lovely episode of Miss Korea, even if the sweet warmth accompanies a very tension-sapped episode that marks this drama’s turn towards the finish as a happy outing rather than a nail biting final push. I’ve long complained that K-dramas tend to drag out conflict until the end, then have the happily ever after be literally ten seconds and … Continue reading →
